Ok, I've eaten at Aunt Suzie's only several years ago, may 5 or more, I don't recall. I think I also had a takeout or two, and that's about it. So I might not be qualified to rate this establishment, and the food might have improved since I was there. However, I pass by it regularly, and based on the menu and the crowd, it seems that it hasn't changed one bit - it's as average as it always was. Yes, it's a neighborhood fixture, but longevity doesn't equal quality. The other reviewers are right, it's like your grandma's kitchen (with 1950s decor and family pictures) - but not in the most complimentary sense. It not much more than your run-of-the-mill low-brow-red-sauce-diner cooking, nothing you couldn't prepare yourself and nothing really memorable but not too bad either. Portions are large and prices very decent - but remember, you'll get what you pay for: an ok meal. That's about it. You'll walk out stuffed and I guess that can be satisfying. If you like diner food or if you're in the mood for diner food, this place is for you. It's like a (very?) good diner, (but) hardly qualifies as "one of the best Italian restaurants in Brooklyn".
Pros: large portions

Aunt Suzie who is that cute guy singing his heart out on Fridays and Wed.
I think I'm falling in love and might have to come in twice a week from now on. I thought he struck all the right cords singing soft and mellow and old fashion songs. Is he married?
Pros: Had to wait 20 min for a table, had a great chocolate martini.
Cons: Had to wait 20 min for a table.

A real neighborhood place where everyone goes home happy, especially the one paying the bill.
I tried the home made gnocchi alfredo and feel it was as good as any in the best and most expensive restaurants in town. My husband had Osso bucco, all I can say is thank goodness there's a place that makes it so I don't have to do it. I love the guy, but I'm not cooking for 3 hours for one meal!
Pros: the ambience is comforting
Cons: parking is very difficult

My Chicken sorrentino arrive with congealed cheese on top. Ewww Aunt Suzie?s, what?s up with that? Is no one checking these dishes before they leave the kitchen? This was my first and last time there. Even La Villa with their horrible staff fares better than this. See Ya!
Pros: Um...the loud singer was cute.
Cons: He was waaaaay too loud.

I go to Aunt Suzie's about twice a month with friends. They recently put in a pretty bar with a very attentive bartender. I think his name is Will. I love the osso bocco and the mixed vegetables. The key lime pie is the best dessert they have. I also love their chicken sorrentino with mashed potatoes. When my parents come into town they always want to go to Aunt Suzie's. Now they get their favorite drinks and I can still get a root beer. I always find the waiters to be friendly and helpful. Once in a while they miss a step but it's a neighborhood place so I just lighten up about it. Nice place to relax during the week for a very filling dinner for not too much money and a smile on our faces when we leave. Cute front window displays too! Read a book to a kid today!
Pros: I really like some of the staff...they are friendly and accomodating...

I have been eating at Aunt Suzies for about four years now and I have to say that I have noticed a gradual decline within the past year in both food and service. I was very dissapointed with the lack of service and attention to their customers. They seemed to be more involved with the new bar than patrons. Waitstaff indiscreetly chewing gum as they spoke to customers, that really annoyed me. So unprofessional. But let's get to the food, shall we. First of all, the salad had a good deal of brown lettuce. As far as my pork chop was concerned, it had not been properly trimmed at all, there was so much fat!!!! Our pasta was so bland. I think that the chef may have forgotten to salt the water as well as the sauce (way underseasoned). I was very discouraged by this visit to Aunt Suzies and will be staying away for awhile. It's a real shame because their food and service used to be pretty consistent, but now I've observed a new waitstaff that don't seem to take as much pride in their work and the food just isn't up to par anymore.
