i've been in and out of roy's service dept for 15 years now, and never had anything to complain about - the guys and girls working there know what they're doing and are willing to go the exta few steps to help in any way they can. i try to take care of most of my bike maintenance myself, however when a job is outside my expertise, this is the only place in brooklyn i would trust it to - riding the busy streets of brooklyn and manhattan i can't afford to have something critical on the bike malfunction in the wrong place at the wrong time.
i never bought a bike from them, so i can't rate the sales portion of the shop.

This bike shop mainly does repairs. I'm not sure if they actually sell bikes, maybe used ones, but definitely not new ones. They guy who runs it is pretty nice and he knows how to fix bikes. One time my friend brought his wheel in to get rebuilt and the guy was going to rebuild it, but then he never did. he gave my friend a loaner wheel, but since he never rebuilt the other wheel, my friend just ended up keeping the loaner. It all worked out in the end.

They have a little bar, so if you just want to take a breather from your kids, you can always sneak away for a drink. On weekends at night they have cosmic bowling, during which time they have black lights and a DJ playing music, and they give away prizes.

Maple Lanes has some great bowling. They have bumpers if you want them and special deals on games. The equipment is pretty recent and they always have a ball at the weight you want. But the real reason to visit Maple Lanes is the French fries. I have NEVER found French fries as good as theirs. They are the standard by which I measure all others.

This of this place as Modells but cheaper! Can that even be true? Infact yes! I can tell you I am a very stingy shopper and do a lot of price comparison shopping so believe me when I say this place is cheap. The store itself is quite large with an inventory to match. You can find anything here from baseballs to hockey skates to running sneakers. The only downfall is the employees are quite immature and do not give much customer service.

I have shopped here for years, they are one of those stores that is rock solid reliable. Prices are good and sometimes they have end of season selections that are cheaper tham cheap.
I must also point out that my son is autistic, loud and not well behaved. They have always been nice about things and helped us.

When you stop by the shop, you'll usually be greeted by one of the courteous staff members and be offered assistance, and if you have any questions, you can always feel at ease knowing you're going to get an experienced and honest opinion. They brew Mud coffee in the mornings and sell skate and snowboards, skate and snow apparel in the afternoon, and do skateboarding lessons on the weekends. During the winter they run day trips to various mountains to go snowboarding or skiing. Constantly involved in the community and keeping it real in Brooklyn. A great skateshop with a really awesome vibe.
Pros: Awesome selection and variety
Cons: no skatepark right around the corner

What can you say about baseball being back in Brooklyn - it is about time and you have affordable New York Met baseball for once. The park is magnificent and is just so nice in Coney Island where you can enjoy so much afterwards. The baseball is decent as this is rookie league but it still is just such a great way to enjoy a day.

The Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Museum was one of the most sublime displays I've seen. Celebrating Japanese poetry and philosophy, the festival delivers demonstrations from Martial Arts masters, poets, and artists as well as hundreds of cherry trees in full blossom.
