This is one of the WORST bike shops I have ever been in, there service department is a joke, as is their pricing. Theres this old lady at the service desk who pulls the prices out of her @$$. Thanks to this they are way overpriced, for instance i went to buy some spokes, they wanted to charge $1.25 for a spoke!, I can buy a pack of 75 online for 30 bux!. I also needed some new QR Skewers, they offered me a set for 9 dollars, but when I said i only needed one, the lady told me that the one skewer was 9 dollars, like i said she likes to rip customers off and pull prices out her @$$. Anyway stay away from this place, I recommend Larrys Cycle shop on flatbush ave instead, MUCH better prices and service!
Pros: none
Cons: everything

I brought my bike for a tune up. Usually I would clean and maintenance it myself, but my girlfriend was not thrilled at the idea of bike grease around the house, so I decided to spend the $50 for the tune up. Basically, I was disappointed by the service provided - they didn't clean the gears (there was still a lot of dirt in there), they didn't provide those little plastic protection caps that cover the air intake on the tube. They just did the bare minimum, if that. Not at all what I am used to. My bike is very simple to tune, it's a fixed gear bike. Honestly, if you are an experienced biker this place is not worth your money. If you are new to biking and will be impressed by the bare minimum then by all means I recommend it. Very very mediocre.
Pros: Didn't break my bike
Cons: Did the bare minimum

i've been in and out of roy's service dept for 15 years now, and never had anything to complain about - the guys and girls working there know what they're doing and are willing to go the exta few steps to help in any way they can. i try to take care of most of my bike maintenance myself, however when a job is outside my expertise, this is the only place in brooklyn i would trust it to - riding the busy streets of brooklyn and manhattan i can't afford to have something critical on the bike malfunction in the wrong place at the wrong time.
i never bought a bike from them, so i can't rate the sales portion of the shop.
Pros: service, proficiency

I purchased my first bike from Allan over 18 years ago, a Cannondale M300. As a teenager he traeted me with respect, and provided me with an education on buying a bike. All of these years later I still find myself going back to the shop because of the prices, and the incredible staff (Ilya, KC, Keven, Sean, Jonsy, and everyone else in the back). Allan, and Keith's (The BEST FATHER SON COMBO in cycling in NY) ability to help you pick out a bike for your needs, and in your price range is second to none. They take the time to "fit" you on the bike, and make the minor adjustments that will make your riding experience what it should be; enjoyable. If you are a racer looking to spend big bucks on the latest carbon wheelset, or shopping for your kids first bike, you should look no further than this family run business that is as much a part of Brooklyn, as it is cycling.
Roys is hands down the best shop in NYC, for the simplist reason. They care about there customers and they take pride in their business. Take the time to get to know the mechanics, and take care of them as they always make sure to take care of your bike.
Pros: Staff, Family Business with Pro Level Knowledge of products and latest technology
Cons: after buying a bike there, you will quickly look for reasons to buy a second from them.

I've purchased my first mountain bike there about 8 years ago. Since then I've gone back for parts and service and I have always been taken care of. My family has purchased 3 more bikes from them and I have recommended these guys to all of my friends. These guys will take care of you every time you walk through that door and not only when you buy something but also when you simply have a question or need service at their facility. With Roy's Cycle you don't just buy the bike, you buy the bike and the great service that will follow. I always deal with either the owner or this guy Keith. Great bunch of people that will stear you in the right direction.
Pros: All the gears you'll ever need. From $1 items to $7000+ bikes. It's all here at one location
Cons: none

I had a bike problem that no one could solve and my friend at Roy knew exactly what to do.
The owner Steve is very honest and he remembers his customers. Unlike some of the park slope bike stores. no names please but there initials are R & A.

They could not more more knowledgeable and they could not be more honest. I went in to replace a bike they sold me three years ago with a bike with a smaller frame. The owner adjusted the seat and changed the stem but he would not sell me a bike that I didn't really need and he would not take money for the adjustments.
My husband ordered a bike from them and paid for it before delivery. When it turned out that the factory had no more in his size, this bike store gave him a more expensive bike by the same company- a difference of $200 which they did not charge him.
This shop is deeply Brooklyn. It is definitely not in Park Slope. It is, however, the only destination bike shop I know of. I would not buy a bike anywhere else.

Am I ever tired of bikeshop attitude in and around the city. It takes me 40 minutes to get to Sheepshead Cyclery, but it's worth the trip. Here I get value and caring customer service. Seek out the encylopedic ILYA, who will make sure you are hooked up. It feels like family, because it is, and this family loves what they do and always seem to have a deal on something good. Service is done well and on time, with a follow up call. AND, the back room is full of some of the most lucious gear you will ever want to own.
Pros: You can leave it to them; they know what they are doing and will steer you right.
Cons: From where I live, it's remote.
