Brooklyn Ice Cream is in DUMBO and if you haven't been there you must! This ice cream is delicious! It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. The ice cream is fresh and rich AND DELICIOUS!!

I would rate the location at the Fulton Pier only with "Fair." This is mostly a tourist trap because many traverse the Brooklyn Bridge and this is one of the most noticeable shops they will come across. Granted the ice cream is fairly good but not quite exceptional. Their peaches and cream and butter pecan are quite light in flavor, if that's what you like. I do have to give them credit because they claim to use all natural ingredients. However, this is still worth dropping because there is plenty of seating and the atmosphere is quite nice. Plus, you have great scenery right outside the ice cream shop.

The Brooklyn Ice Cream factory operates in an old fireboat house on the rebuilt pier at Fulton Ferry. I remember it opening in October 2001 and thinking, Oh, that's not a good idea, people don't eat ice cream in the fall. Well, they did, and they do. The ice cream is superpremium, and while it's not cheap, it's very rich, so I wouldn't recommend more than one scoop per person unless you're very hungry or very large. Don't expect more than six or seven flavors--it's hard work to maintain quality. And if you come on a weekend afternoon, be prepared to wait on a long, long line--sometimes it's better to go in off hours.

Walk the bridge and treat yourself to some delicious ice cream while you sit on the docks and enjoy the amazing view. My favorite flavors are peaches and cream and butter pecan. I hear strawberry is also very good. Supposedly vanilla with some chocolate syrup hits the spot. Definitely a place to stop in on when you're in Brooklyn.

Right by the Brooklyn Bridge, bang across from South Street Seaport, is Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. They have some of the best non-chain ice cream in all of New York. The vanilla is divine, but the chocolate is even better. Made from good quality natural and pure ingredients, the ice cream is simply hard to resist. If it's nice and sunny, grab the ice cream and step outside and eat it while watching the great view. Definitely worth the trip, especially if you make this dessert after pizzas at Grimaldi's.

Just across the Brooklyn Bridge lies a small historic ice cream store. Although it may not have a wide selection of different flavors as other ice cream stores have, by far this place has one of the best basic flavors. I had vanilla and it was soft and smooth. Just perfect. At times you may find a line but this store overlooks the city skyline which makes it worthwhile when waiting for a taste of the ice cream.
There's benches outside the store which is perfect for summer nights and dates while looking across the bridge and city skyline.
