Come for the bargains, but beware the headache that they might cause -- the search can be dangerous.
I usually find the clothing floors too hectic to search through (the men's sections seem to be better than the women's), but have had great luck in finding home goods (glasses, picture frames, etc.) here at fantastic prices.

Century 21 always offers designer goods from previous seasons at high discounts. They sell not only clothing (children's, men's, women's) but also housewares and shoes. The shoe department is fantastic -- you can find Seychelles for $30! They also carry bags (LeSportSac, Ill Parcel, and others) for lower prices than other department stores. The junior's selection is rather small, but there is sure to be something for everyone.

Forgot to pack some "essentials" last trip to NYC and ended up here, getting more than I planned to.
This store features designer close outs, one of a kinds, overstocks and more. All at deep, deep discounts. You will recognize all the designer names, and yes, they are the real thing. Housewares, shoes, bags, capes and dresses, you will find it all here.
"Larger" sizes are limited, but they do carry some. I managed to find what I needed at some great prices. Picked up a cape as well, deeply discounted, and some shoes that I just had to have.
There is one store in Manhattan and the one in Brooklyn. They are usually packed, parking is impossible so take public transport. And the staff can be helpful. But well worth the trip.

I used to like Century 21 more than I do lately; on my last couple of visits I've found nothing I want to buy. In the past, they'd have some great finds - Paul Smith dresses, Emilio Pucci blouses, etc. As for discounts, sometimes they are very good but things aren't always cheap (for example, you'll find a $1,200 dress discounted down to $700). It's definitely luck of the draw, despite the fact that they have a big selection. I've been luckier in their housewares department where it is easier to find high quality sheets, towels, etc. I also like their shoe department - a good selection of expensive brands, but hit or miss in terms of sizes. Service is almost non-existent but they have a lot of check out clerks, so once you find what you want you'll get out quickly. Nice to have in Brooklyn, but not always the best shopping experience.

Century 21 is one of the best stores in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Located on the center of 86th Street, Century's is actually now two stores (one behind the other). They have one store of just bath and bedding items and another store for clothing and shoes.
The prices in this store can not be beat, but beware of irregulars (especially in the sock section). You can find nice items for yourself and for gifts. The store is well kept and there are plenty of cashiers to get you in and out, even in the busy holiday season.
If your husband doesn't like to shop, this is a great store for him as well because of the laid back atmosphere.
