I treated myself to a last minute birthday massage by calling AREA at around 3pm in the middle of a snowstorm. They didn't have any appointments available, but he said he would try to get me a therapist to come in just for me.
Robert, the massage therapist, was friendly, kind, intuitive and most importantly the best massage therapist I have ever had the pleasure of having worked on me. And I've had TONS of massages in chi-chi spas around the country--nothing beats the casual, friendly vibe of AREA and the service was top notch. Not only that the accomodation of my last minute appointment is virtually unheard of in the spa industry. A MUST for anyone in need of relaxation--ask for Robert, he is THE BEST!

Practitioners are top-notch. Therapists all communicate-bringing an integrated approach to health and healing. The acupuncture is the best I have ever had, so caring and compassionate. Massage therapists, amazing! So much to compliment on this space and the practitioners. 2nd floor is also beautiful with a sunroom and outdoor space to relax and drink tea. Classes are very hands-on and just overall a great place to go. I would so highly recommend element to anyone.

I just came from London for a visit in Brooklyn. While strolling along Montague Street, I found a massage place called Spring Thyme. I walked-in hoping that I can be accommodated. I felt great when the receptionist told me that I can have a massage. The massage therapist introduced himself and led me to one of the rooms and asked me what type of massage I want. I told him that Im just stressed out and I just need to relax so he narrowed them down to Swedish, Signature and Holistic Massage. I chose the Signature Massage. I felt great and felt very pampered. I feel like a completely new woman. I'll definitely be making this my new de-stressing stop when I'm in NYC.
Pros: Serene Atmosphere, Clean, Nice Ceiling

Best DOCTOR and pleasant staff. Saw Dr Z after having seen my primary care doc and
2 other dermatologists. Got Dr Zelaya tele# from a friend, who recommended him highly. AWESOME office with a WOW factor. I felt completetly comfortable from the second I walked in.
Very helpful staff, and extremely personable and smart doc!!
He sat down,listened, and did a biopsy that very same day. My results were available that same week and confirmed Dr Z's first impressions. I recommend him highly.

I feel so fortunate that Greenhouse Holistic exists. It is amazingly affordable, offers a variety of challenging classes, and has really helped me move forward with my own yoga practice. The teachers are so knowledgeable and insightful, and make an effort to remember everyone's names and keep their classes interesting. I feel like I am a part of something positive and great when I am there. Also, the massages at Greenhouse are incredible and inexpensive. I have gotten them specifically when I've had injuries or am sore from stress, and I've always felt so much better afterwards. It's really worth while to be a member- unlimited yoga and discounts on massages and other services. I can't think of one thing I don't like about Greenhouse Holistic- I am there as much as possible!

We love Silver Rod Pharmacy and store because of the people that work there. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Especially Brian and Mike. If they don't have something in stock, they are always willing to order it for you(if they usually have it on a regular basis). When school begins, it is jam packed because they have supplies there that other stores do not carry and a large selection of folders! Also they have great bargains on the supplies, greeting cards(always 1/2 price!), and so many other things. We love Silver Rod Pharmacy because it is an extension of our home! :-)

One of the things I love about dr. huml is that he's really honest about things, he is a professional
that cares about people and their well-being. There has been many times when he tells me that I should use this supplement or vitamin instead of another even if the other one was much more expensive. He's basically not just thinking about his profit but my health, and that is one of the differences between him and other doctors today.
Pros: honest, caring person
Cons: bay ridge, a little far from manhattan but worth the subway ride!

Back to the Land is a long-time Park Slope health food store. I go there only when I absolutely need to. Why? The healthy markup typical of many health food stores is prohibitive. While they have a good produce selection, the lettuces and greens are wilted at times. There's decent product selection, but we've all seen better. The narrow aisles and display areas are filled with staff members who often won't defer to customers who need to get by. If you're in a rush, claustrophobic or prone to panic attacks, don't go when it's either very busy or the stroller set is there.
This is a good place to go if you're looking for supplements/remedies, though they're a bit skimpy on homeopathic remedies. But here's something I can't get over – there are times when I've asked for a supplement (much of it is out of reach) and the staff member has taken it upon him or herself to share their knowledge of what the supplement is and what it can do. Hello! You're a clerk and probably not a licensed medical practitioner.
The employees at the checkout are lovely.

This place is run by twin doctors who know what they are doing. As most of the people I know I too wear glasses. I decided o get them a few years ago when I felt that my vision was interfering with my life. They examined my eyes and were able to prescribe me a perfect pair of glasses. They also have a wide selecting of frames from which I was able to find the one I like. My sister has contacts so she orders contacts from them, as far as I know they always come on time and she is able to buy brand name contact cleansing fluid there.

Forget CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade. What everyone needs is a pharmacy that really cares about you and actually knows your name. Conveniently located near the F train in the South Slope, Ansonia is all about service with a genuine Brooklyn smile. I get all my prescriptions filled there, and also stock up on hair care products and great smelling soaps. How they seem to have everything in such a small store, I'll never know, but they do!
