Want a few things and do not want to wait on long lines? Go to Met Food. It is a small supermarket and holds all the needs you may need at the last moment. The lines are never longer than a few minutes, also has super friendly employees. The prices are not to high and the food is always fresh. There is even a deli counter where you can get deli, hero or buy your own fresh rolls or Italian bread. Open seven days a week.

This is the best fruit store in the area. I have been buying from them for years. You will never get any stale items there. And they have the fruit in all price range, if you want cheap apples, you can get them here, if you want fancy ones, you can get them too. They also have vegetables and other groceries. The best place to shop if you are a fresh fruit person.

This is the biggest Asian supermarket in Brooklyn and it's conveniently located on the 8th Avenue strip. You can take the N train there. You can drive there as well. But it's pretty rare you will find parking in the evenings and on weekends.
It has almost every Asian product I can think of and other ethnic products as well. I can find my sofrito and fish balls in one supermarket. Kitchen items as well. Very reasonable prices! Accepts credit/debit!

This shoe repair shop is owned by Joe, who is a nice Italian man, but while he did a good job with my shoes, I found his prices a bit high. Also, he was quite disorganized, although he always seemed to find my shoes somehow. Overall, I stopped going to him because of the prices and I thought his workmanship for heel replacement was fair.

Key Food has always been pretty good, but they've just completed a renovation of the entire store. It may not have prices as low as the Coop, but then again you don't have to volunteer to work several hours a month to shop here. This is about as close to a suburban market as you'll find in Park Slope - good selection of everyday and gourmet items, fresh fruits and veggies, and even good music on the sound system. A big plus is the parking lot - few markets in NY have on-site parking.

The place looks a little crowded, but thats a good thing for the customer because that means that they have more things in stock. The owner knows the difference between all the different wines, and has great suggestions for parties. There has never been a time that i couldn't find something i was looking for in that store. there are sometimes people in front of the store which may be intimidating, but they are all friendly and willing to help.

More
Cangianos is mostly known as a meat market where you can buy choice cuts of meat for those special Italian dishes. But they also carry cheeses, pizza dough, sauce and Italian specialities like sausages, salami's and more.
Be aware that parking in this busy part of Bay Ridge will be difficult, but it's worth the trip.

Garden of Eden is quite aptly named. There store is bursting with fresh and colorful fruits. Everything they sell in the Deli is something you want for dinner, and the salad bar sets a new standard. I think they may have the best rainbow cookies I have ever tasted. You have to pay for the quality, but you are certainly not getting short-changed here.
