Recently we decided to have a surprise party at Mulholland's for my best friend. He is a huge sports fan and we thought that Mulholland's would be ideal. Needless to say it was a great experience overall.. Booking the party was easy they were very accomodating. We all gathered in the backyard to surprise him and he had absolutely no idea...the look on his face was priceless! After eating tons of wings and sliders (which ended up being the perfect amount of food and really really good) we proceeded by celebrating with a ridiculous amount of shots. I definitely paid for it the next day. I think I may have even danced on the bar! Haha!!! We'll definitely never forget Al's birthday! We'll be back next weekend!!!!!!
Pros: music, lots of tv's, people

I was in this part of Brooklyn over this past weekend doing some Holiday shopping and went to Oven for dinner. What a wonderful place...it is small and cozy, has a great wine selection and the staff was exactly what you expect from a good restaurant. The food was the best part, of course, try the veal meatballs or the curry chicken pizza, and everything that came out of the kitchen looked good! I had an great experience and will most certainly be back.
Pros: Good Menu, Staff, Wine List
Cons: n/a

This place is wonderful. The staff is so helpful, and it's obvious that everyone here really enjoys wine. The tastings on the weekend are always fun, and I've never walked out of here without a bottle or two that I didn't come in for and can't wait to try. I heard they do classes once every month or so, can't wait to check them out.
Pros: great selection, fantastic staff, lots of bargains
Cons: not open 24 hours

Bensonhurst is a douche and clearly hasnt stepped one foot into Smith & Vine because this is one, of not the best wine shop in Brooklyn! Clearly he works for vintage cellars up the street cause he gave them 5 stars and they are terrible. Smith & Vine offers a great selection with incredible service. You would be lucky to live close to them.

Warm and lovely, this neighborhood wine bar is a welcome addition to Boerum Hill. My husband and I have stopped by several times and each time is a pleasant experience. Their wine list is mostly small production boutique wines and many of them are made from unusual grape varietals, interesting blends or wine from up and coming wine regions. The tapas style menu is ever changing and executed quite well. With the owners on hand nearly every night the service here is always friendly and on point, and the owners are always willing to answer any wine questions you might have. I've seen a lot of complaints on citysearch about different wine bars / restaurants that use stemless glasses- which donna da vine does. If you wanted to evaluate a true treasure from your wine cellar than perhaps you wouldn't use a stemless glass, but let's not forget that "wine tumblers " are utilized in some of the best wine producing countries in europe... Italy being the first one that comes to mind... and riedel, a producer of premium crystal glasses have made an artform out of making sure these tumblers are designed to enhance the flavor of wine. I haven't written a review before because there is always that desire to keep a hidden gem...just that hidden , but this is a great establishment that deserves to thrive and grow in this neighborhood ....people need to know about it !!!!
Cheers !
Pros: Interesting wines..... comfy atmosphere....delicious tapas

Justin, Trisha, Jenny and Sarah make the Tuesday night Prix Fixe even more irresistible than it should be. The menu is always a pleasant surprise. I love the signature coarse salt sprinkled on Justin's flavorful dishes and Trisha's desserts are just unbelievable! The beer is absolutely the icing on the cake. Get the beer pairings with your meal. Its actually a . . . steal. There. I said it!
Pros: Best beer. Best service.
Cons: none

These guys do Tuesday evening beer-and-cheese tastings where you learn everything about what you're tasting. The beer selection is big for such a small shop and they also brew their own. The cheese selection is carefully selected and with their expert help you can sample your way to the perfect cheese. Also, there are lots of little treats and snacks. The staff clearly enjoy what they do and the shop seems like a real labor of love.

I moved to Brooklyn 8 years ago and one of the things I missed most about my NYC life was the wine store options - at the time there were not nearly as many as there are now. I found Heights Chateau and was impressed by its great selection and service, seduced by it's classic and simple design of wine and wood. I loved the long walk down Atlantic Ave to get there, and still do - it's my go-to store for a special gift or a good cheap find to make me happy any day of the week. I've been a regular customer ever since... I've always appreciated the staff's friendly greeting and offer to help me navigate the new arrivals, of which there are many which keeps me guessing (for better or worse). I referred a friend to the store recently, who checked it out on citysearch and shared news of a nasty review to me - I was shocked. I couldn't disagree more. So I'm writing to set the record straight , and if you don't believe me check out the latest and greatest reviews from Zagat 08, another city guide made by and for the people...Heights received top ratings across the board for it's store, staff and prices.
Pros: good wines, good people - the store's got soul!

Your kegger days may be long gone, but that just means that you've moved on to better brews (and perhaps a slightly more infrequent use of a beer bong). Which means you've found an asset in Cobble Hill's American Beer Distributing Company, Inc. Founded in 1948, this store offers an astounding selection of amber and dark lagers, British ales, robust stouts, potent dopplebacks, and foamy wheat beer. Great prices, individual and bulk quantity, domestic and imported, and best of all, if you're buying more than you can carry, they'll lend you a cart to schlep it all home.
