The Clay Pot is a fun place to browse, but it's pricey. If you have the money to spend, it's a great place to get unique gifts for birthdays or the holidays or even as housewarming gifts. They have all sorts of handmade ceramics, glassware and interesting novelty items. I can't think of any store in the neighborhood that is like it.

I was so dissapointed in this store! Specifically, I shopped (or tried to, although it felt more like begging to shop) for my fiancee's engagement ring here. The staff was incredibly unhelpful, never followed up (I had to continuously show up at the store to get answers on questions posed weeks before although was told there would be "no problem" to call or email the answers) and i always felt like i was putting someone out!
Sadly, the selection is very interesting and they offer creative, unusual rings but i cannot recommend this place, which is really unfortunate!
Pros: selection
Cons: service!

The only thing that keeps this place from 5 stars in the price tag, but sometimes paying a little extra is worth it. The Clay Pot specializes in hand-made stuff by local artisans. And these artisans aren't messing around; their work is GORGEOUS. From jewelry of every budget (and the most beautiful & unique selection of engagement rings & wedding bands NYC has to offer) to hand-crafted wood boxes to store it in to beautiful paperweights to gorgeous glass bowls and sculptures, The Clay Pot has class!

This place is wonderful for gifts. They have beautiful, colorful glass items. The designs are very unique and unusual. So, if you have an artsy friend, this is a good place to shop for him/her. This is also a great place to go if you're looking for an engagement ring. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable and can recommend things right in your price range minus the price snobbery often encountered in other place. I highly recommended this place for anyone looking for a lovely gift or piece of jewelry.

My fiance and I went to Clay Pot looking for our engagement ring, and ended up with disaster. We practically had to beg to have the ring done right (even though it was a super simple design) and then it still came back wrong, and badly done. They advertise their willingness to assist you with special orders, but the truth is that they're really not a jeweler and don't know what they're doing. They even got the sizing wrong! We went out of our way to shop at Clay Pot, but when there are a thousand other jewelers in the city, more than willing to do anything for your business, why all the way to Park Slope to get treated badly?
Pros: Selection, Unusual Designs, Lovely Area
Cons: Bad Customer Service, Cramped, Out of the way

We went to Clay Pot for an engagement ring. Because we are saving for an apartment, we didn't want to spend a whole lot, but wanted something unique and handmade. The staff at Clay Pot were attentive and knowledgeable and recommended things right in our price range with absolutely none of the price snobbery we had experienced at other places. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a lovely piece of jewelry.
Pros: selection, service, prices
Cons: ring section cramped

Always something to meet my mood, no matter what occasion. Beautiful jewelry and pottery (altough you're better off going to Pearl River for some of the Japanese dishware). Beautiful!
