The Clay Pot is filled with beautiful things. Their jewelry selection is amazing. When I was looking for a ring with a particular stone in it, I fell in love with a ring design at the Clay Pot and they worked with me to see if the artist could make the same ring with my preferred stone. They were prompt and thorough, and even though the artist couldn't do it, the sales people were very helpful and nice. Also, a terrific selection of vases and unique gift items.

I went to the store after browsing through their website. They have an awesome array of unique wedding rings.
They carried the designer, but not the specific style I wanted to see, so they ordered a sample band for me from the designer. While I was still contemplating (about 2-3 weeks after seeing the ring), they called me to notify me that the store was starting a sale on all wedding bands -- 10% off. I remember thinking that it was a great way to make me come back -- and it worked! I bought the ring through them, and they delivered as promised. They also helped me get the band resized and adjusted until I was completely satisfied. All along the way, they gave me updates and acted as my advocate with the designer. It was truly a worry-free experience.

Last fall, my fiance and I started shopping for an engagement ring; more to the point, he allowed me to design it. I have very specific tastes: 1. No diamonds (I wanted sapphires, but had a blacklist of countries I didn't want them to be from for political reasons); 2. Modest budget; 3. Antique setting. Of all the places to which I submitted this tall order (and there were many jewelers who either didn't reply, or couldn't guarantee conflict-free stones, or just wanted a ton of money), only the ClayPot responded in the positive. Because we were not in a hurry, they literally hunted for MONTHS for just the right sapphire center and side stones, even providing the provenance. They also introduced us to wonderful platinum smiths for the setting, and remained committed to giving me the ring I wanted within our budget. We were NEVER pressured in any way; in fact, we were given the option to purchase the stones through them and then have them put in a setting elsewhere if we weren't happy with the settings they offered. As it turned out, we found just the right platinum smith, and everything worked out wonderfully. In April, my fiance presented me with a unique engagement ring that has my personality written all over it: a champagne sapphire flanked by white sapphires, in an engraved platinum band -- and we get compliments on it ALL THE TIME. It is truly a success story. We are now finalizing selections for our wedding bands, and the ClayPot has definitely earned our business for them. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a CREATIVE, knowledgeable, affordable, and stress-free jewelry experience. You can go outside the box without paying a fortune!
Pros: Will go the extra mile; works with your budget; wide variety of designers and styles
Cons: Can't think of any

My fiancee and I had been looking at engagement ring settings in Philadelphia and I hadn't found anything quite right. I wanted something handmade and a bit unusual. I started searching the internet for places in or around NYC, figuring I needed to cast a wider net. I came across the store's website, and it looked promising. We drove to Park Slope to check out the store in person and we're very glad we did. The service and selection were excellent, the prices fair, and our entire experience was positive. The people who helped us were attentive and knowledgeable; they were generous with their time and we never felt pressured. It was a warm, unpretentious and friendly environment. The long drive to get there and back was absolutely worth it. We received the ring yesterday and couldn't be happier.
Pros: great service, selection and value.

The ring department and the jewelry designer went the extra mile to help me create something truly special for my bride-to-be. I wanted something unique but tasteful, and my fiancee absolutely loves it. They're more design-oriented than the kind of store where the focus is all about the "rock", but I selected a great diamond and didn't go anywhere near the "two months' salary" mark. Stress-free, extensive selection, helpful staff. Well worth the trip from Manhattan!
Pros: great wedding bands & engagement rings, no pressure

They have beautiful rings from talented artisans, but my suggestion would be look there and buy elsewhere. After six months we are still waiting for a certificate for one of the stones in my ring--that's just a basic thing that any jeweler (or dealer) should get right, but we keep getting excuses and put off. I agree wholeheartedly with the previous posters who cited poor customer service.
Cons: Poor customer service, Poor follow up

The Clay Pot store located on 7th Avenue in Brooklyn, carries many beautiful and unusual items. Their selection is wide, and their items are not found in every store. They have a huge assortment of different types of vases, bowls, cups, gift items, unusual items for children, jewelery and so much more.
The Clay Pot is the type of store where you can spend hours browsing, despite the fact that their physical space is not that large. It is the type of store to lose yourself in, and to just admire all the beautiful things they stock. Unusual jewelery, bowls, vases, and many different items will catch your eye. The merchandise is very colorful, and is very well displayed, and it is a fun store to visit and to shop in. They can even wrap and send a gift for you, and its the type of store that lends itself to gift cards to enable friends and famly to make their own gift selections. Their personnel is also very friendly and accommodating.
PROS: A great store to browse in.
CONS: So many beautiful thinngs it can be hard to choose among them

Any question I would ask a question, they would give vague answers like they didn't know what they were talking about. This place needs new salespeople, otherwise it's fine.

Not only does this store have a great location in Brooklyn but their online offerings can't be beat! Upon making a decision on a piece of jewelry to purchase, they promptly confirmed my order and within 24 hours wrote an additional personal confirmation + note saying what a nice piece it was and that it would be shipped the following day. I highly recommend both the store and their website: http://clay-pot.com
