I have been to the Village Smokehouse several times and it is always a treat. The cornbread at the beginning of the meal is great, as are the beans that are included with dinner entrees. While sometimes the service could be better, the fun decor and great food always makes me return to this restaurant.
Pros: Cute decor, great food, lots of choices
Cons: Less than stellar service

Hands down, the best burrito in town. I go to Anna’s about twice a week when I’m in normal stride, but I bet I’ve hit 4 or 5 at lower times in my life. I say this because Anna’s is cheap and filling. I eat there for predominantly two reasons: To provide my body with the ability to battle a night of excessive drinking, and to aid my body in recovering from that very same feat. As opposed to other burrito and taco shops, Anna’s doesn’t try to sell you on fancy “concept burritos”. Santa fe, Chicken Caesar, Teriyaki…forget all that garbage. Super Burrito! Beef, Pork, Chicken or spiced meat on a spit, rice beans, salsa, hot sauce, sour cream, guacamole, grilled vegetables. It’s all you need, and it’s delicious. AC in the summer helps too. You have to be vocal though, don’t let them leave anything out!

Went here for a valentines day couples massage - the place was busy, but we were welcomed right in by the friendly ladies at the desk and brought to our room. I felt like a new lady after Martas handywork. Neither of us has had a massage before, but Mily and Marta made us feel comfortable and explained everything. They offer you tea, water, delicious baked goods, etc before and after your massage, and let you stay and relax in the waiting area as long as your want. Although the space was tight, their waiting area was comfortable and home-y. This is a little more pricey than other spas, but the convenience was worth it for me. Great staff, great massage, definitely thinking of heading back.
Pros: Friendly staff, great massage, delicious baked goods and chocolate covered strawberries!

I recently went to this bookstore for an author signing event (Chuck Palahniuk, my hero!), and spent over an hour just taking in the wonderful atmosphere of this store. This is definitely a place for book lovers, and not just a store aimed towards people who are looking to buy the latest tabloid or fad diet book. This place really has character!
The Booksmith has a great selection of books (from every genre) to choose from. I was thoroughly impressed with their huge wall section of literary "magazines". They have a downstairs area filled with videos to rent and used books to browse through. There's also a really cool gift section where you can buy something unique for yourself or for a friend. Lots of greeting cards, as well.
I was extremely impressed with this little bookstore, and will definitely be returning. They have great events, with many famous authors, which is a definite plus. You can even bring your dog in with you! I highly recommend this place.

The Monday night trivia is fantastic as the moderator keeps all contestants on their toes. Pretty much the entire bar participates. Great place to watch a game and the menu goes well after midnight. I attend a convention in Boston every year and always make it to the CCC for Monday.
Pros: Trivia Mondays, Great Sports Atmosphere, Good Food

Athan's bakery has a great variety of greek pastries, cookies, chocolates, home made Italian ice cream and bread. I am addicted to their many kinds of baklava. Everything they sell there will melt in your mouth. The have a few table so you don't have to go all the way home before you can indulge in any of their yummy products. The bakery has a great atmosphere and the service is great....even if you don't live too close it is worth to take the "C" Green line to Washington Square and try it for yourself. It is a little pricey but worth every penny!

We had the Crispy Fried Fish and it was excellent. The sauce was spicy and hot. The waiter was very attentive and stopped by to see if there was anything he could do. We found our meal to be one of the very best we have had in a Chinese Restaurant. The only issue was there is limited parking around the restaurant.

Chef Chang's House is a Brookline institution and one of the best places to grab Chinese food in the immediate Boston area. The portion sizes are huge, the service is fast, and the food is excellent. Chef Chang's House is also a rare value for this area (given that few dishes top $15). Reservations are highly recommended on busier weekend nights, or their entire menu is available for take out which makes this restaurant a local favorite.
Highly recommended is the General Gau's Chicken.
