Bonnie's Boutique has altered dresses and men's suits for us with fantastic results. She completely remade a dress for my daughter, turning it from ill-fitting to elegant. Her work is meticulous, always delivered on time and frankly is higher quality than the other tailors and dressmakers we've tried.
For example, she took a suit that fit in the shoulders and nowhere else and took the extra material out of the body so it hangs perfectly. She not only took in the pants but cut extra material out of the pant bottoms so they truly fit. We are now bringing her things that other tailors have altered so she can fix them.
Prices are low, especially considering the quality of the work.

Sarah was a last minute replacement for the other 2 harpists that cancelled on me for my wedding day!! She did a great job and everyone commented on how talented she was. Even though we first spoke 2 weeks before the wedding, she was still able to learn the special songs that I wanted played at the wedding. Sarah was very professional, personable and reliable! I'd recommend her to anyone without a doubt!

New England Ob-Gyn associates is a world class organization with amazing doctors who put the needs of their patients first! I have seen all of the doctors here - they are so confident, talented, and well educated, as well as friendly. All of the women in this office have their own children, which to me is important. The only negative is the fact that it can be a little difficult to get an appointment. I would recommend this office to anyone!

New Taste of Asia serves northern Chinese food from Xian and Beijing. Many are dishes most Americans have never heard of, like yangrao paomao, which is lamb soup with noodles, lamb and pieces of a thick, homemade flat bread which you tear up and put in the bowl before they add steaming broth. It tastes like the essence of lamb and should be a famous dish. They serve such northern Chinese basics like shredded potatoes in garlic - Mao's favorite dish - a plate of potato slivers that must be blanched but remain firm with a light sauce and "chinese hamburger, which is five spice beef on a roll with cilantro. Their ma pa tofu is sublime and authentic, covered in real ground szechuan peppers.They even make the fried dough that kids in China live on.
A dish like Kung Pao Chicken tastes nothing like the fatty, mild dish you normally find.
They serve "normal" Chinese food as well. You may have to ask for the northern menu.
For dessert, try the Fire Exploded Apple - chunks of apple, dipped in a sugary batter, fried and served with a bowl of cold water. You dip the pieces until they harden like candy, with strands of sugar trailing and the insides hot.

I'm not a car person at all, but this is a great museum. It's the old home of Larz Anderson, and I love house museums. You can rent out the museum for special events, which can be a lot of fun. They also have lots of special events they sponsor themselves. Special exhibits, concerts, you name it and they've tried it. Their summertime lawn events are famous (Italian car day, motorcycle day, etc. etc.). In the Spring they have the annual Bonham and Butterfield's Antiques and Classic Car Auction, which is a lot fun. The grounds are terrific place to have a picnic, and at night you get a great view of the lights of downtown Boston (a makeout point sort of place). Their gift shop is good if you have a transportation nut to buy for.

We have hosted two parties at Club Longwood, the smaller of the two venues run by Longwood Events. The other venue, which is in the same building, is a full size ballroom. Both are located very conveniently in the Longwood Towers complex directly across the street from the Longwood stop on the D branch of the Green Line. (They also run the State Room at 60 State Street.)
The Aptekers ran a restaurant called Veronique at the Club Longwood location. It was very good. About 3 years ago, they switched to events only.
The room is exquisite - look at the website - all fine panelling, with carved details. The food is excellent, at the level of the finer restaurants in the city, and the presentation is creative and immaculate. Service is always excellent. The staff is easy to work with in planning your event. When you have committed to them, you will be invited to tastings which are frankly over-the-top explosions of almost all they offer for food and hospitality.
We have held parties for about 100 and about 70 in the Club Longwood space.
Because the site is on the T and has a parking garage, it is very easy to use for anyone living in the immediate Boston vicinity. We had numerous guests from out of town and the local hotel - the Marriott in Brookline - ran a shuttle to and from the event for free.

If you are looking for a place for a special occasion, this is the place to go. There are not many tables but you can make reservations. The food is excellent!! Truly a hidden jewel in Brookline. The menu is small and a bit pricey but I think it was all worth it. They have a great selection of wine and the service is great! Try it sometime!!

This small stores is snuggled right next to the Brookline Village T stop on the Green Line. You can hear the train pass as you browse through the numerous choices of yarn that are organized by color.
The book selection is large for such a small store and patters with samples are plentiful.
The employees seem to be quite experienced and are more than willing to help out if asked. They are laid back in this shop and seem to wait for the customer to ask for help rather than bombard them with questions which is wonderful considering all the browsing that can be done in this store.
Classes are also offered.

GREAT SCUBA Dive Shop
I learned to dive with the instructors from this Dive Shop therefore I got to know each of the staff fairly well over time. They were all so patient, careful and knowledgeable. I learned a great deal from these folks. I purchased all of my SCUBA equipment from this dive shop as well. They carry top quality equipment and take pride in their safety. It may not look fancy upon initial entry (what dive shop does?), but they know what they're doing. Great location right off of the T also. Reasonable prices, great staff, great equipment.
