Today I went to do my eyebrows for $10 at Canela Spa, when I got home and saw my eyebrows in the mirror for the first time that is when I noticed the terrible job they did and I tried to fix them. I have been to other places that have done a much better job for 1/2 the price. Even I could have done a better job. Pros: I soothing environment and friendly staff. Cons: Horrible for waxing eyebrows here!!!

The stylist spoke almost zero english. I left and went straight to another salon to have my hair fixed afterward. I think half of the positive reviews on this website are fake because they all sound the same, and I cant believe there is anyone that people like the hair services they offer. WASTE OF HAIR TIME AND MONEY. like the other reviews said, STAY AWAY. Pros: Got a stylist quickly Cons: really bad haircut.

I gave this salon 2 stars only because it was clean. I went there because of all the reviews I saw on this site, and really wanted to like this place because of it's proximity to my home. First, I entered and was told I would wait about 15 minutes. I waited 35. Then, when I met my stylist, I became even more frustrated when I learned she spoke very little English. I carefully explained to her what I wanted, which was quite simple: layers in the front and back, with side bangs. She starts cutting and right away I knew it was going to be a poor hair cut. She barely moved my hair around, she achieved the "layers" by chopping in one swoop, instead of moving the hair to different angles to create movement, depth etc as my past stylists have done. Next she cut my bangs, and instead of cutting them to the side, like I asked, she cuts them STRAIGHT, and then blowdrys them to the side. Finally she blowdrys the rest of my hair and flips the ends very dramatically (think Farrah Fawcett's signature do on SPEED), which i didn't ask for either. I looked like I was going to 8th grade prom. The style/cut was mediocre at best. I will never go there to get my hair done again. It doesn't seem like the stylists stay updated with the current trends in hair styling/cutting. But, I will say, that I cannot attest to the quality of the spa portion, which my sister tells me is actually quite good. Pros: Clean Cons: Archaic styling techniques

I'm a spa lover so I've been to many spas across the country, around the world. Canela has the best combination of excellent customer services (the front staff are warm and welcoming), great massage services(Delfin is a wonderful massage therapist) and ambience (the decor is beautiful) and best of all its in the heart of my hometown, the Bronx. I'm so glad to see such upscale, but friendly services in the Bronx. Keep it up! And I'm looking forward to my next massage with Delphin- he's very precise and aims to make his clients happy! They also did a great job with accomodating my mom on her special day- l really appreciated that. Pros: the prices are great for the services. a little less than Manhattan, but same service and ambience Cons: parking in parkchester always a problem, but at least its situated in front of a parking lot area

From the moment I walked in I was extremely impressed. The receptionist was extremely nice and offered me water or tea. It truly is an Oasis in the Bronx as one person had stated before. Unique is wonderful and her waxing job was amazing. She is very professional and you feel like you have known her for years. This comes in handy when you are getting a Brazilian wax. I would recommend this place to everyone. Unique also does facials and body scrubs. The only problem is that it is hard to find parking in Parkchester, however if you make your appointments early you may get lucky.

I live in Parkchester and have been going to Canela for about a year now. It's a beautiful spa, with a very upscale appearance and good quality products. I usually get hair services- wash/set/cut etc. and I love it! I always leave feeling like a new woman. I just recently tried a massage with Delphin and it was magical. I've had massages at a lot of different spas, in different cities, and his was by far the BEST! He's very professional and has a great sense of what needs to be worked out and just how much pressure it'll take to do it. I'm an attroney and I work long hours. I always seem to have tension in my neck and back. Delphin worked all the kinks out steadily and patiently. It was incredible!! I don't usually like to write reviews, but I really love Canela and was so impressed by my massage that I just had to show my support. Pros: Warm, courteous, well-trained staff Cons: I wish they did spa pedicures!

The tone of a friendly, warm and inviting space was set by Jennifer and Yunique (spelling?), the two ladies, who greeted me upon entering Canela Spa. I was offered tea, water and a comfortable area to wait for my massage. I have been to many spa salons throughout the New York area as well as around the country and in Europe, and the treatment I received at Canela would rival any of the spas I've been to. My masseur, Delfin, was fabulous - he was attentive, professional, and very knowledgeable about the body and techniques he used. I am a dancer, teacher, and performer and use my body quite a bit. I was very pleased with my massage and will be returning soon to have Delfin work out the kinks. I would certainly recommend Delfin and Canela to my friends. Pros: The atmosphere is conducive to healing. And, there are a lot of shops and restaurants in the area. Cons: Parking is a problem - but you'll be happy once inside
