Want a WOW date? Wait til winter, and go to "Holiday Lights" at the Bronx Zoo. They open the zoo at night during the holiday season and decorate it with fabulous lights and a theme (last year it was Narnia). We went last year after a snow storm and it was beautiful! We rode the carousel, watched tigers and reindeer play in the snow (not together) and went to the petting zoo, reptile house and all that other cool zoo stuff. Sure, it's overrun with kids and has lots of silly holiday tunes blasting over the loud speakers, but it's also crazy romantic and sort of weird. Scored me big points.

The Bronx Zoo is a great place to visit whether you're a kid or an adult! My favorite exhibit is the gorillas and apes. I just recently went with my nephew and I had just as much fun there as I did when I went in grade school. The gift shop is a little pricier than I remember, but what the hell, you don't go there everyday!

Some of the cool attractions to see are the tiger mountain exhibit and the congo gorilla forest. Some of the attractions are an additional cost, this includes the butterfly garden, monorail, safari, and children's zoo.

I've been to the Bronx Zoo with my child and friends. At the time, they were in the midst of some renovations, so not all of the sections were available. Of course, the food is always over-priced and blah at the zoo, but we tend to go there to see the animals and not to have a dining experience. I did find the zoo particularly crowded and noisy when you came anywhere near the droves of camp kids. I wish they would have special days for that, so that people with small children could just enjoy the park without having to deal with the craziness. We did enjoy the woodsy feeling in parts of the zoo, only to be reminded of the nearby roads in other. We stayed in the city, and we were able to take a special bus from outside one of the toy shops that went straight out to the zoo. The zoo was ok, but it’s not a place I'd be a regular patron at.

This could be such a great zoo - it's really updated and has a great selection of animals. The problem is that it gets so crowded and the crowd can be a bit wild at times. Lots of large school or camp groups. It's a shame because the animals are wonderful - they've got everything you'd want to see.

This really is a great place to be. The Bronx Zoo is a great escape from the city life. Here you will be lost in a large environment of nature and animals. They also have rides and plenty of kids activities. The Bronx Zoo is one of those places where you can spend the entire day at. Kind of like when you're at an amusement park. I don't think it is possible to see every animal the Bronx Zoo has to offer in just one day. It is rather big and you can easily get lost in there (I know my friend did).

Really a nice zoo. The roads are easy to walk and there are plenty of animals to see. I remember seeing polar bears, monkeys, snakes, bats, birds, and etc. Like others have mentioned navigating around the zoo can be confusing. There usually isn't a tour guide person around the roads that can direct you, so you sort have to find your way around. The best part of the zoo was the ride. I'm not sure what it is called technically, but its a ride in the air that sorta makes it way around the zoo so you can see the view up on top. It was really nice, except that I was afraid of heights. I'm not sure how much admission was, but I think on Wednesday they still offer free admission. Nice zoo and nice place to spend with the family.

The zoo was wonderful except there was no one around to ask directions and if you found someone to give you directions they usually pointed you in the wrong direction. Nonetheless the children's zoo was the best. There were areas for the children to play and there was an opportunity to feed the animals. The only drawback was at the end of the children's zoo. There is an opportunity for your child to take a picture with a rooster or guinena pig ($5). The staff taking the picture are not kid friendly and have no patience with a camera shy child. Then there was the issue of the souvenior shop - VERY VERY PRICEY. I spent $43 dollars just on a couple of tiny stuffed animals, a toddler t-shirt and a couple of child proof cups which actually cracked when my child dropped it.
