We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the airport. We flew over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and numerous landmarks along the way to the Grand Canyon. Once at the canyon, we made our descent, landing near the Colorado River, and had a champagne lunch in the Grand Canyon.
The staff was very friendly. Our pilot, "Mike", was knowledgable and took great care of us. It was a terrific experience and anyone who has the opportunity should take this trip.
The one drawback is that you are only on the ground in the Grand Canyon for half an hour. I could have spent more time enjoying the scenery. Next time I will probably try the combination helicopter/boat tour!
Pros: Friendly staff, good communication, easy and affordable!
Cons: Not enough time in the canyon.

If you are looking for an excuse to make a short getaway from Henderson head out to Boulder City for a nice lunch or dinner at Le Bistro Cafe. It is a quaint little hideout on the closest thing Boulder City has to a main street. The food is really yummy and the waitstaff are attentive. This really is a small place so you may have to wait, but you can always sit outside, they have misters in the summer!

I was young (in my 20's) and thought 'what's the big deal? it's just a dam.'
Let me tell you - I recommend to everyone to see the Hoover Dam.

At its base, Hoover Dam is as thick (660 feet) as two footballs fields measured end to end.
Hoover Dam is 726 feet tall. That's almost 200 feet taller than the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.
During peak periods of electrical demands, enough water runs through the generators to fill 15 average-size swimming pools (20,000 gallons each) in one second.

Matteo's is located in the historic Boulder City Hotel and offers a wonderful breakfast. They are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is unique because they are situated inside this beautifully restored historic hotel in downtown Boulder City. They are also open for lunch and dinner, but I go there for a leasurely breakfast.
They offer great early bird specials and have out door seating available so can enjoy your meal while watching passers by in the downtown area.

Good: Excellent Camp Host. Assisted with site location and utility setup. 24 hour access to camp ground. Great view of Lake Mead. Quite and located very near marina for water toys, restaurant and shopping.. Bad: No 24 hour access to long term storage. This results in extra trailers or RV's not accessible to late arrival camping.. Improvements: 24 hours security gates available for long term storage. Additional fire pits located at all camp sites. Grassy Play area for children. Currently only sand lot horseshoe (cornhole) area..

While visiting Las Vegas we took a day trip to the Hoover Dam and it was very spectacular. We went on the tour and saw the inner workings and it was informative and interesting. One side of the Dam is Nevada and the other side is Arizona. Everyone should see the Hoover Dam at least once.

when we used to travel west every year, we stopped and shopped here as we loved Mexican and SOuthwest everything. My main purchases were the leather purses, that I bought for myself and lots of gifts back home. They were about 30 then, and here were selling for double that.. The family was always very nice to us.. We even bought jewelry there, and a beatiful hand embroidered Mexican blouse for me. Even called them one Christmas season to order 3 purses for more gifts. Wish we could go out there again!!!

The Albertsons Grocery store in BC has a great video rental store that is a well kept secret! Must people see it, but do not know what a great bargain it is.
On Mondays they have .99 cent rentals, including new releases and on Wednesdays they have 2 for 1 rentals.
Their regular rental prices are very reasonable, too, around $2.59 for a three to five day rental. They also keep track of your rentals and after 10 you get a free movie rental. You can't beat that!
They are very small compared to the solo movie rental stores but they do have a very good selection and all the latest movies available as well as some classics. They have sections for children's movies, drama, action, comedy, horror - a little something for everyone.
PROS: Great selection for the size of the store
CONS: If you want an older not-so-popular movie you won't find it here
