Pearl street Japango restaurant offers a good variety of japanese dishes. The atmosphere is sobre, and not too loud and the tables are nicely spaced out for privacy. For the food though I was a little dissapointed. I had the tokyo sushi dish with a miso soup and a salad. The miso soup was flavorful, the salad was a bland green salad with a ranch dressing (never heard of that being japanese - I expected a cabbage based salad), and although the sushi was diverse (with more than the tuna and salmon fish - there was eel and other varieties of fish) it didn't have much taste, it seemed like it had been frozen a long time and had lost its flavor. The rice wasn't cooked enough too I thought.
The service was okay.

Brad and Amy took me to Japango for sushi last night and it was excellent. It seemed fresh, the waitress was friendly and accommodating, and it was quiet enough to have a conversation. It also emitted a certain "hipness" which I should have expected, given my hosts. Hence, being an 18 year old very focused on where I'm seen, Japango probably improved my image in Boulder considerably.
Overall, good sushi and service, highly recommended.

Japango is our favorite "neighborhood sushi place." We know the people, always get great service, and never have trouble getting a good table. We had 12 people tonight and sushi-orgied out - maxing the check with tip at $400. The food was great - nothing terribly unique (standard sushi fare) - but fresh, yummy, and served quickly. We got the blue booth area near the back bar, which is a great mellow place to hang and watch the entire restaurant. Things were buzzing for a Monday night (some friends - the Berberians - randomly showed up), but our service was still fast. Don't forget to order the Lobster Dynamite - it's one of the few unique Japango dishes but always satisfies.

Try this place on a Tuesday night for all you can eat Sushi at $27/person. You might think "all you can eat" and Sushi don't normally go together, but this place is really superb. The sushi is very good, the atmosphere colorful and lively, and the location perfect. Well done Japango!
