What can I say, The margaritas at the Rio are sinfully delicious! I have tried to duplicate them at home and must say that mine are darn close! They serve a strawberry marg that is fantastic too, or for a not so sweet taste-- (Hate those headaches in the morning!) order a 'straw light'! The food could be better, but I have to say that the queso dip and home- made tortillas are awesome! You can order a side of 'atomic' which is a pepper mix to spice things up more if you want! YUM!

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Boulder. The Margaritas are the strong and delicious and the food is amazing. I had the fajitas and they were still sizzling when they got to my table. They had so much flavor and spice what more could anyone ask for! The staff is friendly and very helpful. This restaurant offers great food and service at an affordable price!
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

A group of five friends descended upon Juanita's after encountering a >1hour wait at Rio Grande. Both restaurants were busy due to CU's home game against Nebraska (circa 2005.. where's the Judy's Book entry for CU Football?). The Juanita's hostess quoted a 20 minute wait for seating in the main dinning area. We asked to wait in the bar area. A booth had recently been vacated, but not cleaned. The five of us could fit in the booth (with an extra end chair), the waitress and a buser for the area quickly cleaned the booth. Better yet, the waitress asked a table of two to move to the booth to allow the five of us to sit at two 4-tops. We ended up at a pair of connected tables near the bar within minutes of arriving at the restaurant (vs. >1 hour at Rio or ~20 minutes in Juanita's dinning room).
Once seated, the rest of the dinner was served fantastically. Our waitress juggled multiple requests, partying Nebraska fans and an overwhelming bar environment. She kept the chips, salsa and margaritas flowing while the kitchen attempted to keep up with the crowd.
Our collective dinners were fine. One chicken chimi seemed to be missing the chicken, but the quality of the other four dinners were well above what would be expected at the Rio. Once again, ordering from the daily special menu was very rewarding.
We will continue to frequent Juanita's and the Rio Grande, but whenever SUPERIOR service is provided, it should be recognized.

Sometimes the bar area is a little gross, but the food is always great. It is a great place to get together with friends and put $20 in the Juke Box, get drunk, play pool and eat good food.
Pros: Nachos, Soft Tacos
Cons: Could keep the bar area a little cleaner

try this bar tender..besides her "saccarine" free drinks made with organic---thoughtful ingredients she always has something nice to say about everyone! This bar is so busy with people devoted to seeing the bar manager..everyone has been lined up---its even busier since it was the much loved Rhumba!
Pros: always says the nicest of things about her patrons
Cons: never knows when to stop saying wonderful things

A funky flair of authentic mexican, southwest, and new world cuisine. The crab cakes were excellent and the caeser dressing had an amazing southwest kick. I highly recommend the Hanger steak (They only serve all natural - hormone free- meat) and the seared tuna. I don't even like encheladas and I couldn't get enough! I've been back many times to try different entrees and the salmon on cedar plank is my favorite. The Zolorita is out of this world and they have an amazing selection of premium tequilas. There tequila dinners are moderately priced for what you get and are amazing. I can't wait to go back!
Pros: Food, Drinks, Ambiance
Cons: Small Bar, None!
