I love this place. It's got the down home favorites I grew up with and don't turn down suggestions. If you're hankering for paella though, don't get it here, its not good and they said it would be enough for two, but anyone who has been to/lived in Spain knows what paella is, and the Med. does not have it. but other than that everything is amazing and super yum and awesome and TRY THIS PLACE!
Pros: tapas, homey, drinks
Cons: can be busy, bad paella

My wife and mother-in-law took me here for dinner one night. It was fairly busy, and we got a table right next to the stairs and busy walkway, but it wasn't too much of a problem. We got a bunch of small things off the menu and shared - everything tasted great! My wife loves the sangria here. Our service was satisfactory, though I noticed that another server's clothing didn't appropriately match the formal nature of the restaurant.

This place had been highly recommended to me by several people so with bright eyes and and empty stomach I entered the Med on a Monday night with much enthusiasm. After a lengthy wait we were greeted by a server presenting us with indifference and inedibly stale bread. After a short wait we were delivered our tapas order, which turned out to be dull food served in undecorated cafeteria-style bowls and plates, hardly what one would expect from tapas. What followed was even more unimaginative entrees served with sides of slimy wilted salad topped with a very ordinary vinegrette, a terrible disappointment. We hardly had the courage to stay for dessert in this culinary disaster. Needless to say, I have no intention of returning to the Med.
Pros: Ambiance in the upper section.
Cons: Everything else

I would first disagree with the review before mine. Our server was personable, and recommended a great shrimp Tapas to go with our bread, which came right at the start of our meal without asking for it...As in the title of my review, this was the best dinner date I've had in Boulder, since moving here about 5 months ago and visiting many of the local "hotspots." Drinks were tasty, and my GF ordered something called "Orange Blossom," I think, which was very nice - quite strong, but lots of flavor for a drink with that much booze! How often do you get a strong drink that actually tastes good? My Dark & Stormy was tasty as well.
The food was delicious! Shrimp, Lamb Skewers, Fried Artichoke, Tuna Tartar, Carpaccio(?) were a treat, the only thing leaving a bit to be desired was the black bean and cilantro hummus, but this hardly put a damper on the meal. In addition I am a food connoisseur and was raised on my family's authentic French cooking, so I do have some basis for comparison. Overall great service, got a table in 10 mins (it was later on a Thursday), and awesome food, I will be back again and again, and tell everyone to go here!

The Med had been reccomended to me by two people. However, when my fiance and I went there for dinner on Sunday we received horrible service and lousy food. The calamari was incredibly bland and soggy. The pizzas were OK. We didn't receive any bread and when I asked the waitress about this, she replied that they only served bread when asked for at the beginning of the meal. However, there was no mention of this on the menu, so only regulars would know that you had to specifically ask for the bread. To make the evening even worse, the service was slow and the manager berated quite a few of the servers in front of us. That doesn't make for a pleasent meal. And the place was over staffed so all the servers hung out on the patio and were incredibly loud. Again, this all added up to a very dissapointing meal.
Pros: A nice patio
Cons: Bad service, loud, no bread with meal, mediocre food

The Med is always on my list of places to visit when I return to Boulder to visit my family. I hang my hat in Houston but my tummy calls out for those tapas each and everytime I come home! The beautiful Walnut Street location, gracious customer service and a menu you can always count on for variety never disappoint! Make this your tradition...Maybe I will see you next time I am in town!
Pros: They always try to accomodate your seating requests
Cons: Sooner or later you WILL have to leave!

The Med has always been a decent choice based on food alone. Their happy hour menu and of course the tapas are a sure-fire way to start your evening in Boulder. Be prepared to push through a crowd just to get the hostess to acknowledge you - no matter what time of day you visit. Mistakes have always been promptly remedied, prices are average for Boulder - outdoor patio area is beautiful and the only place to sit in the summer. Overall The Med is too trendy and full of itself to make it a favorite, good place to take visitors in town.
Pros: Happy Hour & Tapas
Cons: Crowds, noise

The mojitos and margaritas were excellent! We ordered and appetizer from the tapas portion of the menu, dinner and dessert and it was all wonderful. We were in Boulder for a week and this was by far the best restaurant we tried. We had a 6 year old with us and she had pizza. They have a good children's menu and they give kids some raw pizza dough to play with while waiting. That sounded weird, but it was like play-dough and she really had fun with it.
Pros: Great food and drinks!
Cons: Somewhat expensive
