Hapa has a sparse stainless steel design aesthetic and a small Zen river that flows along the bar. With modern jazz coloring the background, it’s a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy copious amounts of sushi, particularly if someone else is picking up the tab. The sushi is delicious and I’ve never had bad service.

There are four sushi places on the Pearl Street Mall (wow!) All are very good to excellent. Hapa is the "hippest" crowd - the waitstaff are all hotty college kids and there's a great hang out bar in the back. The sushi is more adventureous (or non-traditional) than most - you get all the standard fair, but then orgasm rolls, 69 rolls, tuna sushi nachos - you get the picture. The spicy edamame is the best in town and is a must have starter. If you are a sashimi fan, keep it simple and get the sashimi platter - 9 fish * 3 pieces. When the bill comes, it's in an envelope that says "The Damage" on the front - so you know you've ended your experience.
