The Beat Book Shop has probably lost its way since it was founded by Allen Ginsberg. When and if it is open, it is crowded with piles of books and nonsense, which makes it difficult to move around, much less find anything. The new location is not an improvement. The salespeople (only men when I have been there) are smarmy and self-impressed, not to mention totally rude. If you are looking for an experience, read On the Road but skip this stop.
