Abe and Louie's is located on Boylston right near Copley Square, which is my favorite section of Boston. The restaurant is upscale and very modern feeling instead of the more men's club feel of many other local steakhouses. Service is good and the steaks are delicious. The prices are steep as they are in most of Boston. It was a nice treat.

Hey, this place is great when you want to imbibe and treat yourself to a nice big slab of red meat. Its fancy without being ostentatious, and the waiters are overly willing to help you with selections on the menu be it the wine list or the specials. I usually go to the bar to hang out with friends and the bartenders seem to really know the regulars there which is a major plus. The drinks are nice- the house merlot is actually quite good and I am not even a huge merlot fan - unfortunately they got rid of the big fishbowl glasses. Brought my family here for a graduation dinner eons ago and my parents and boyfriend at the time raved about the food. It is steak and other fine food at its best. Would reccomend to travelers as it is right across from the Prudential.

Abe and Louie's is a typical swanky upscale steakhouse- but one of the few of such types in Boston. Service here is top notch, but seafood and such is market price so expect to pay top dollar. The shellfish tower on the appetizer menu is $110, but feeds 8-10 people.
Cuts of meat here are excellent. An order of surf and turf came with a fabulous filet and the biggest scallops I had ever seen (almost the size of baseballs).
If you go, wear your suit and tie or dressy attire and bring your wallet. Expect to leave full, but poorer. It's a wonder if any food can be good enough to justify this price.

How do I love Abe & Louie's? Let me count the ways.....
Could it be the non-pretentious host/ess? Could it be the personable bartenders that make a perfect cosmopolitan? Maybe the way the atmosphere relaxes everyone around you, leading to delightful conversations with fellow dinners waiting for their tables.
The steak tartare is the best in the city. Better than the Capitol Grille. Better than Morton's. Better than the multitide of places in and out of Boston that I've tried it. The best.
The steaks are cooked to perfection. The a la carte side dishes only suffer from the time it takes to choice just a few. And the waitstaff! I have only have incredible experiences when it come to the waiters I have had here.
I don't go to Abe & Louie's that often as the price makes it a special night out. It's worth every penny. If you are a steak-lover, it's the place to go.
