My experience at Lala Rokh was exceptional. I went with my husband to celebrate our first anniversary. We were going for the weekend to Boston and it was hard to decide were to go for a special dinner. The idea of Persian food on Beacon Hill sounded very good to me and it was really more that we both expected. To start the atmosphere was very "tranquil" and sober, and at the same time romantic and relaxed. Service was excellent too. They were very efficient, gave us good descriptions about the food and advice in what to order. The food was very different, tasty and aromatic, a whole new experience for the palate. I recommend it a 100% and will be taking friends and going back because I defintely want to try their whole menu. Can't go without trying the "Fezenjen".
Pros: Good location, nice athmosfere, great service, delicious food
Cons: Being a small place I think is best to make reservations to avoid waiting

My wife & I visited boston this week and had a taste for some Thai. After reading a few reviews on various sites, we decided to try the Brown Sugar Cafe. We were staying near Copley Square and decided to ride the T (subway) to the restaurant which is located near a T stop. The T ride cost us a little under $7 total for a round trip ride and the stop was literally less than 50 feet from the Brown Sugar Cafe's front door.
Upon entering we were quickly seated and given an EXPANSIVE menu with great descriptions of TONS of different, exciting dishes. There is something for everyone on this menu (assuming you like Thai food!). I settled on a simple soup appetizer and my wife got some sort of mimosa type pastry appetizers. Both arrived piping hot and were extremely flavorful.
For the main course my wife ordered a wonderful chicken dish which was served in a half pineapple and I ordered a fantastic spicy tender beef dish. Again, everything was piping hot (temperature) and tasty. The service was excellent all night and all food we ate was wonderfully fresh and hot.
The music was a little goofy for a Thai place. That night they were playing some sort of Celine Dion-esque stuff which didn't enhance the environment much, but this was easily overlooked in the face of the good food. Also, I've seen other reviews saying Brown Sugar is a good romantic date night. I think it's a better place to take friends. I only say this because it's not a very quiet place. The ceilings are high and there was a lot of talk bouncing through the room, giving it the feel of a very lively restaurant as opposed to an "intimate" restaurant.
Finally, the prices were very reasonable (our main courses were each around $14) and the portions were perfect.
Highly recommend.
Enjoy,

Pros: huge exciting menu, easily accessible from the T, fresh!
Cons: music was a little cheesy

My family celebrated my birthday here for dinner last Saturday night. There were 8 of us total and overall it was a pleasant experience for everyone. I had made a reservation for 6:30pm and we were seated immediately which I thought was very efficient. We shared the roasted pepper hummus and calamari for appetizers. The hummus was flavorful yet mild, I just wish they gave more slices of toast--they only gave about 8 small slices which just wasn't enough. However we used the complimentary bread to eat the rest. The calamari was good; nothing really extraordinary. My aunt had the Goat Cheese & Proscuitto Salad and said it was tasty but just wished there was more goat cheese overall since it was a small sprinkling.
For our entrees - everyone ordered something different and I don't think anyone had a complaint! My meal was the strip steak and it was a hearty cut cooked perfectly to my requested medium rare. Other big hits were the Rotisserie Duck and the Chilean Sea Bass.
The desserts - the highlight of my meal! I specifically chose this restaurant because it was reasonably priced AND had their own pastry chef (who I believe is the co-owner with her husband). Almost my whole party ordered from the dessert menu which changes seasonally. Mmmm, the Free Form Mud Pie brownie was so incredibly rich and delicious! The brownie is thick and cakey combined with spoonfuls of ice cream -- perfect with my cup of coffee. My other favorite was the pumpkin gingerbread which comes out warm with a fruit sauce drizzled on the bottom...the warm bread is so flavorful and rich - it tastes like it is freshly baked. We also had the Peanut Butter Mousse and 8 Layer Chocolate Trifle - both very tasty and unique!
Overall the ambiance was pleasant and the wait staff courteous. Nothing to complain about in terms of service and you really can't beat the prices. I will definitely come back again!
Pros: Good service, unique desserts, reasonable prices
Cons: Parking is slim but it IS Boston

I actually took a cooking class at Elephant Walk and it was really interesting. The French-Cambodian cuisine has some atypical ingredients but the chef explained each one along with its nutritional value to us all beforehand. Then we went into the kitchen and started cooking... and we actually got to do it ourselves and use their equipment! It was a lot of fun, I'd suggest gong in a group, and afterwards you get to eat the delicious meal you just prepared.

The food here was exellent. The service was very fast. We went on a Friday evening and the restaurant was busy yet very little wait on seating or our meal. Superb lighting and over all fun feel to the place. We often dine out at Indian restaurants in Florida and none can compare to Kashmir. If you enjoy Indian cuisine you will love this place.
Pros: Great atmosphere, food , location, price, waiter with pony tail
Cons: close seating, small table, limited wine list

I just love it. It is so good and tasty that I go there once a week!!!! Their Dim Sum is probably once of the best in Boston Chinatown. The only inconvenient is it is very hard to find a parking in Chinatown.
Pros: Excellent Dim Sum
Cons: No Parking

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere alone is worth going for. It has a New York vibe to it (which is difficult to find, even in Boston). The bartenders are some of the best and friendliest I've ever encountered. They can make a lot of good drinks, and even have good suggestions if you're willing to try something new. I happened to go on one of the nights where they had live music---and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In a city where ethnic restaurants are few and far between (especially Thai) this place is one of my favorite in the city. I?m originally from DC where Thai restaurants are as common as Starbucks and when I first moved here I unfortunately had to toil through the few Thai places that Boston has I found King and I. They have the best Pad Thai I?ve ever had and huge portions of everything unlike 99% of other Thai places Who cares if this places lacks decor, are you ordering wall paper as your meal?? Two thumbs up for King and I. If you go for lunch get there when they open the place fills up to full capacity very quickly.
Pros: Big Portions and Great Price
Cons: Service can be slow especially when its busy at lunch

I stumbled across Audobon on a whim one afternoon about 2 years ago. We were looking for a late lunch and a drink or two before checking in to our hotel. Our waitress was Rabit (or atleast thats what it said on the slip) she was absolutely the most attentive and friendly waitress I have ever had. She made terrific suggestions and made our overall experience terrific. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Boston. Last time i was in Rabit was still there! The food is also very good. Everytime I come back to the city I come in for a meal.
Pros: The Waitress was the best!
