It's so great that they opened the Copley location since Faneuil Hall is a bit inconvenient for most people. The biggest disadvantage here is that, unlike New York City, many of the Boston venues are spread out (so if you really wanted to do something last minute, you might have to still haul yourself over the Cambridge to see a show). WIth ticket prices so high, this is a great resource. There rarely seems to be a line (unlike NYC). ArtsBoston runs the booth, so you can always order discounted tix ahead of time online (though they don't guarantee tix, I've ordered many things over the years and have always gotten my first choice and always gotten a ticket, which they mail to you). Their website also tells you about Bostix availability for the day, too (so no mystery when you arrive).

I have gotten tickets to two shows through Bostix. Neither time did I have to camp out the night before or go ridiculously early in the morning. For both shows (Blue Man Group and Shear Madness), I bought the tickets on Saturday afternoon. Bostix is great if you are living in Boston and want to see a show, but don't want to splurge on the ticket. Bostix may not be a reliable source of getting tickets if you are just visiting for the day however. Take note that Bostix only accepts cash for same day shows and tickets are not refundable. You might want to visit the ATM before you go to Bostix.

This service, housed in cute little stands at Copley Place and Faneuil Hall, sells half-price tickets on the day of the performance/event. Although they begin selling at 11 AM, people camp out early that morning or the night before, to be first in line. If you're looking for bargain prices on great entertainment and you no longer have a Student ID, Bostix is the way to.
