Brown Sugar Cafe was introduced to me almost eight years ago. The food is amazing! I love the papaya salad, the tom yum soup, pineapple fried rice, the mango chicken and oh that Thai ice tea! As you can see, I have tried quite a bit of their menu. It is highly recommended. Although the restaurant is top notch, the sister restaurant in Cambridge is not as good. Definitely opt for the Commonwealth location, but be weary of high volume times. The service is amazing, but you may feel a bit rushed. If you go at lunch on a weekend, you can sit and relax and take your time.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere alone is worth going for. It has a New York vibe to it (which is difficult to find, even in Boston). The bartenders are some of the best and friendliest I've ever encountered. They can make a lot of good drinks, and even have good suggestions if you're willing to try something new. I happened to go on one of the nights where they had live music---and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In a city where ethnic restaurants are few and far between (especially Thai) this place is one of my favorite in the city. I?m originally from DC where Thai restaurants are as common as Starbucks and when I first moved here I unfortunately had to toil through the few Thai places that Boston has I found King and I. They have the best Pad Thai I?ve ever had and huge portions of everything unlike 99% of other Thai places Who cares if this places lacks decor, are you ordering wall paper as your meal?? Two thumbs up for King and I. If you go for lunch get there when they open the place fills up to full capacity very quickly.
Pros: Big Portions and Great Price
Cons: Service can be slow especially when its busy at lunch

I moved to Boston for almost a year and I felt in love with this Typhoon for its sushi and its cozzy atmosphere. I've been dining around to experience other sushi places, but nothing out there convinced me to keep coming back, but Typhoon. Very attentive service, food come out fast, great wine list (they offer all wines by the glass and bottles which is great for everyday dining out), exotic drinks from the bar are unique too. I heard Typhoon has been there for over 10 years and has been improving and improving... that's the only way to stay in business. Unlike some places I've been to, same old same old, and sometimes they just shut down and disappeared, like Typhoon's Korean neighbor, Jae's or 711 Underground Sushi, whatever,.. they just disappeared.
Pros: Almost everything about a unique restaurant!
Cons: A little small for weekend.

We love restaurants where each bite is an adventure unto itself. At the Island Hopper, every morsel makes your taste buds dance with delight. The Hopper provides a melange of Southeast Asian dishes ranging from Malaysian to Thai to Indian, with a little bit of Chinese, sprinkled on top like MSG.
The menu is extensive and consistently delicious. If you are unsure, the servers are especially knowledgeable and more than happy to lead you along the promised path to a satisfied stomach. A good start to the journey is the Tom Yum soup?a tangy, spicy broth with juicy shrimp floating like treasurers (it is amongst the finest that the Palatiers have every tried). Accompany this with the Roti and curry sauce (vegetarian friendly). As we discovered, it is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.
The main course options will never fail you, but the specials menu really opens up a new frontier. If they should have it, go for the duck. Good Beijing duck is a hard thing for a restaurant to master, but Hopper does an excellent job, and they will even wrap the pancakes in front of you! It is the small accompaniments that gather the tastes together. Hopper gives four options for rice with every dish. Count it: jade, brown, white and our personal favorite, the coconut. The udon noodles served in an earthen bowl were also worth exploring. The Sea bass with tangy ginger sauce is a creation fit for an emperor or at very least, a local warlord.
Although you might not initially feel up to it, dessert at the Hopper is a memorable affair. We recommend either the green tea Mochi (an outer shell filled with an ice cream core) or the fried banana roti drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with strawberries and cream (picture included). Also recommended are the smoothies at anytime. Explore with family and friends, make sure to share the entrees, and always ask for chopsticks.

So I got here late (9:45 pm). My waiter was friendly and nice and answered all my questions. The sushi rolls were fresh and there was a wide variety to chose from. The drunken noodles were seasoned and spiced well (I asked for mine a "little spicy"). The wine was slightly pricy (as far as Asian restaurants go) but the portion was good, so I didn't mind. The only negative was that at 10:15 pm, they asked if I could pay my bill. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the hostess told me they closed at 10:30 pm. I really didn't mind as I was already eating (and drinking wine). To be fair, I was the last diner inside at that point. Normally, I don't like being rushed in my dining but I was famished and the food in front of me. Ehh, if that's the worst I can comment on... who cares?
Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD, Good service, GENTLE PRICES!!
Cons: No available parking (as far as I could tell)

Everything that we tried on the menu was loved. The dumplings, rice, tiger tears, mussels were all great. But the two things that everyone agreed were amazing were the Fried Chicken and the tea smoked ribs. The service was eccelent, we were provided great suggestions and the food just kept coming at an even pace. When the menu says spicy, they really mean it as well! Everything was excellent, I will be going back many times.
Pros: Best Fried Chicken ever
Cons: very little bar space

Washington Street is in the heart of the downtown Boston business district. Equator is a 'hot' spot for a quick business lunch. Don't let the line at the door discourage you. It goes quickly and is worth the wait.

Since moving to Boston 3.5 years ago, we probably go to Chilli Duck once every two weeks. It is AWESOME. Everything on the menu is great - we particularly like the papaya salad, chicken satays, chilli duck, and hot basil dishes. :)
