I first discovered Taranta by word of mouth through my girlfriend. I decided to splurge and take my boyfriend there, when he came to visit me for the weekend. We went on a random Thursday night. The restaurant itself was rustic and romantic and really created "the mood". The menu looked amazing and after much debate, we decided on the mussels to start. Words cannot describe how amazing these mussels were......simple heaven. The mussels swam in an amazing balsamic reduction sauce that was even enjoyed more when soaked up with their home made rustic bread. We were very happy with our experience so far...and then it started to go down hill. Not in terms of the quality of the food, our main dishes were fantastic. But the service was beyond slow. After the mussels we wanted another round a drinks, and had to wait 15 min to order them, and then another 20 minutes to actually get the drinks....our food took about 45 min to come out and we weren't "checked on" once by our server. Again, the food was amazing, but the experience was ruined by the fact it took forever.
I then wrote into the restaurant to let them know my thoughts of the day. The ower actually called me, and then sent me a $250 gift card to make up for the poor experience. I then went back a few months later and was so happy that things were much faster.......the food, of course was still delicious.
Pros: Mussels! Mussels! Mussels!
Cons: A bit expensive and not the fastest service

I organized a christmas eve dinner for 10 people, and Rob was seriously very helpful in with getting the reservation done, especially as I kept calling to change the reservation.
The food was really excellent, especially for a prix fixed christmas eve dinner, and really good value for money compared to other christmas eve dinners that night. We all really enjoyed ourselves and the service was good. I would definitely recommend it and am coming again.

Absolutely wonderful melt-in-your-mouth fish.
Great attentive service, the waiter was constantly
refilling our water glasses for instance. My only
complaint is that the strawberry shortcake was
lousy. But it's the best fish I've ever had, at a
very reasonable price.
Pros: Fantastic seafood and service
Cons: Strawberry shortcake

The steak I had was one of the best I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, it was paired with carmelized onions that complemented well with the delicious garlic mash potatos. The service was wonderful as expected. I will return!
Pros: Steak, location
Cons: busy, make reservations

The food is hands down delicious. My boyfriend and I started off with the split pea soup and the caesar salad. Although the salad was fine (I'm not sure how you can make caesar salad more than fine) the soup was really tasty. They also provide a cute garlic/herbed bread that is baked individually. We both had filet mignons, I had mine Oscar style and he had his Gorgonzola encrusted. Although both steaks were a tad bit overdone, we enjoyed them tremendously and loved different styling. He thought the Gorgonzola steak was the best steak he ever had. We also had a whipped potato and sauteed spinach accompaniments which were on the small side but decent as far as sides go. The desserts were fantastic (one of the best creme brulees I've had and a rich chocolate rich). We talked a bit to the sommelier about the wines and he ended up gifting us two copies of the Great American Wine Guide which was a very sweet gesture. The service was spot on and it made for a very romantic night out.
Pros: food, service, wine list
Cons: price

My guy lives in Boston, I'm here a lot and we've had dinner countless times. We popped in Prezza on a whim and were blown away. Every bite of every plate was delectable, and the wine list was impressive. We have pretty high dining standards, but were blown away by the offerings here. Will definitely be coming back.
Pros: Incredible Food, Fantastic Wine List
Cons: Parking (Like Any NorthEnd Spot)

We eat here at least twice a month. This is one of the coolest restaurants in Boston! They have really turned the place around from years past---great food and an amazing microbrew list. It's informal and fun here---summer all year long. You can't go wrong here!

My wife and I had 7:30 reservations and arrived at about 7:15 and were promptly seated. The restaurant is very small with every table having a great view of the kitchen. It took a while to get our drink order in but after that service was outstanding. I had oysters as an appetizer which were great and they had a selection of 12 different ones from Massachusetts, PEI, Connecticut, Virginia, British Columbia and Washington St.. My wife had the house cured Norwegian salmon which was good but we would probably not order it again. For entrees my wife had the Sea Scallops w/ Sweet potato tortelloni which were outstanding. The scallops were perfectly seared and the tortelloni had a surprisingly savory taste. I had the Rope-Grown Main Muscles which were outstanding I just wished I had more bread to sop up the juices with. We finished with the Meyer Lemon Cheese Cake which I really enjoyed but my wife thought was only ok. She is a sweet dessert type of person and this was definitely not a sweet dessert due to the lemon in the cheesecake and the cranberries on top.
Pros: Seafood, Atmosphere, value
Cons: Small so reservation required
