The Federalist, located in the heart of downtown on Beacon Hill, is one of the most notable places to dine in Boston. They serve excellent cuts of meat and a la carte comfort foods that cannot be topped anywhere else is Boston. The service here is excellent as well.
Though it is a bit pricey, the Federalist is an excellent place to go on a special occasion. Expect to pay nearly $50 an entrée once you add in a la carte sides.

after moving to the west coast there was one thing that has been missing, dunkin doughnuts. it doesn't matter which spot I am reviewing, dunkin doughnuts are the same wherever you are. there's one on every corner and if you're not from the east coast be aware that asking for a regular coffee means coffee with cream and sugar...but with this coffee it's perfect!

Within the two plain, lime-green rooms, Nightingale is dishing out well-priced omni-Med cuisine: plates like the wild mushroom tart, seared skate wing with brown butter and braised veal osso bucco with dried apricots, almonds and white beans. Entrees don't cost more than $20, so you can feel free to order dessert splurge (spiced pumpkin creme brulee or bosc pear and almond tart with burnt caramel sauce).

Gourmeli's is inside Copley just before you walk the footbridge to Prudential. For a hotel restaurant it's great and for that matter it's great all around. They do an amazing brunch on the weekend with an inclusive price where you can choose from hot and cold foods including make your own omlette, french toast, pancakes, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea. There's another part of the restaurant where you can just chill out and have drinks, coffee, dessert. They also have a regular a la carte menu. There's great people watching too and it's a good place to go anytime of the year.

I went here over the weekend after not having been to Castle Island in about a decade and it is even better than I remember!!! The BEST hotdogs ever; the steamed skin-on ones that crack in your mouth. Wow, that kind of sounds gross, but I promise you it's not. Great prices, pretty cheap food that tastes so yummy on a chilly or warm day with the seabreeze. Grab some crunchy hot fries and a drink and take a walk out to the sugarbowl; this is what being from Boston is all about!
(Also, heads up. My dad informed me that there is something in August or September where the hotdogs are only 69 cents. Oh lord, I will dream about this until it happens. I will eat twenty hotdogs. I am so excited.)

This is quite the positive addition to South Boston (aka Southie). The downstairs is one-half classy sports bar with a Cheers-like environment and the one-half dining. The entire downstairs is covered in side by side plasma tvs, including the bathrooms. You will not miss a play at this place. The environment attracts blue collar workers enjoying a beer and a game just after work as well as professionals winding down for drinks after work. The environment is very friendly and comfortable and all mix well here. You can pull up to the bar, watch the game and chat with the many bartenders or sit at one of the tables amongst the bar area or dining. The food is unbelievably good here and the prices are equally unbelievable given that it is in Boston. They have a wide assortment of Martinis, mixed drinks and beers (bottle and tap). My favorite is the Steak Tips dinner with a well poured Guinness. The service is friendly but a bit slow at times. I dont mind as Im there to enjoy the games and my drink awaiting my tasty food. Upstairs there is a dance club which is also available for private parties. A friend rented the upstairs for a birthday party and was pleased with the ease and attentiveness of the staff. The event well very well. I would highly recommend this place for a night of dancing (more dressy on the weekend nights), game night or just relaxing with friends for a nice dinner. I think that this is the place to be. As far as location, its a 5-10 minute walk from Andrew Square T stop and you can pick up a cab right in Andrew Square after T hours. Or you can drive there and park for free. Just be sure to park your car near a well lit area as Ive seen glass on the curb the next morning which means smashed windows.dont leave anything in your car to entice.
