Spent parade day at this bar. Bouncers were openly advertising they needed to kick people out of the bar so that more people could be allowed in generating more cover charges ($20/person). While the wait staff was friendly and very attentive considering the crowds, they could not outshine the repulsive behavior of the bouncers.
Pros: above average pub fare
Cons: lousy service

This place is great for food, people or sports watching. My wife and I moved from Beacon Hill where we went to the Hill Tavern all the time when we were looking for good food but weren't in the mood for something fancy and expensive. The Playwright Bar & Cafe is just as good if not better! Nice, friendly staff...we'll definitely be back.
Pros: Quality of food

This place is a great place to catch a game and enjoy food. The pizzas are especially good, I think. Nice beer selection and friendly staff only add to the place. More >

I've never been dissatisfied by a meal here, but I've never been thrilled, either. The menu is somewhat limited, but includes typical pub-type fare with a couple of Mexican dishes. I've tried:
+ Buffalo chicken salad (OK)
+ Reuben sandwich (not cooked enough, cold in the middle)
+ Vegetable quesadilla (pretty good)
+ Chicken ranch roll-up (was supposed to be spicy but wasn't)
While the food isn't great, it's a decent sit-down restaurant in an area without many choices.

How u doin?
