This restaurant is in a great location if you're going to the theater (they also offer a 10% off discount for members of the Wang Club). I wouldn't bother going down to the area just for dinner there given so many Thai options all over the place, but it's certainly good for show dining. The presentation is really good (satay sticks come all standing up in a fancy pattern, some things are served in a pineapple, fun colored dishes, etc.). Service is the usual high standard for Thai restaurants, and they are excellent at getting your food to you on time if you mention that you are heading to a show. The Montient Hot Pot seafood special is fresh and delicious, a bit spicy, but also not too full of seafood given the price ($18). Prices are moderate in general. The drinks menu is quite extensive.

Montien is a chic urban Asian restaurant located on the edge of Chinatown convieniently by the theatre district. It's the perfect place to stop before or after the show for a quick bite. You also will not feel out of place here if you're dressed up- it's pretty swanky in the front lounge areas. However this restaurant is not pretentious either. The Thai food is a bit haphazard- I actually got pretty ill after eating here once. I have since given it another chance with better results. They recently added a new sushi bar, but I have a feeling that it wouldn't compare to the Japanese Ginza restaurant which is right down the street.

Montien was rated as Best of Boston a few years ago. The quality of the food is great - the vegetables are fresh and the food is prepared when it is ordered (not the night before and reheated). I ordered the Chicken with Basil (not too spicy) and it was delicious. The waiter actually understood what I meant by "not too spicy" - Thai restaurants are notorious for their uncomfortably spicy foods. The service was very good and the waiter was attentive to our needs. The drink list seemed very interesting. Try the mango with sticky rice dessert, you will not be disappointed!

On occasion, I tend to try different Asian foods other than Japanese or Korean. The decor was definitely nice. They did a good job to blend everything together including the pink painted walls. The service was good. We had beef satay as an appetizer. Some of house specialties seemed like Chinese dishes. I ended up getting Cupid Wings. I wasn't sure what it would taste like when I ordered it. It seemed interesting from the description. It was really good. They had a plate with two wings stuffed with mixing of various ingredients. For dessert, we had mango sticky rice. Great place for dinner if you are going to the theatre district afterwards.
Parking can be a pain there. After 5pm, all the metered parking is only for residents.
