You can't beat the style at this tiny bar and restaurant, with big black and white family photos and red leather booths. Fortunately it lives up to its look, with food that's a cut above the usual bar fare for only a little bit more money. Favorites include pretty much anything involving cheese, including the grilled ham and cheese which comes on rye with fries, and the famous, deadly mac and cheese, which has with a side salad to mitigate the guilt. The entrees are mostly under $10 and the drinks are terrific. Insanely crowded at lunch and right after work, so try early in the week, or quarter to noon, or get a friend to stake out a table for you just as you're getting out of work. No reservations.

This place is great for an after work drink. It is right off of downtown crossing so it is great for anyone working in or around the area. The drinks are modestly priced and they have all the standards you would imagine at a bar. The atmosphere is alright. My friends and I had a high table in the corner and were sort of out of the way so we were able to watch everything that was going on around us.

Silvertone's is one of my favorite lunch/after-work restaurants. The food is consistently great, the atmosphere is very cool, and the service is usually great. The menu is small but has something for everyone. The appetizers are great - some are different takes on what you usually see at restaurants. I've tried most everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. They probably have the best macaroni & cheese I've ever had. Some say it's quite addictive. Their wine list is great, and the prices are quite reasonable. Also, they make rasberry-infused vodka that is to die for.
