Legal Sea Foods isn't the best seafood I've ever had... but for a moderately priced chain restaurant, it's solid. I know that if I'm ever in the Bo...

“Not the only choice for seafood”

In a city that is literally right on the water, many visitors end up at Legal Sea Foods, looking for that "authentic" seafood experience. Which is... More >

Editorial Review

Eric Grossman, June 30, 2004

This waterside location of the world-famous seafood chain keeps tourists happy.
The Scene
Located across from the aquarium and just minutes from Quincy Market, this Legal requires more of a wait than others. When the restaurant is full--which is almost always--the noise can be deafening, but such is the price one has to pay for the freshest seafood in town. Weary waiters do their best to keep happy faces while serving an endless stream of tourists.

The Food
The excellent seafood is served in every imaginable way: Super-fresh lobster meat tops Caesar salads, while crab enhances the cheese and horseradish dip. A wood grill makes thick cuts of swordfish and tuna burst with flavor. Shrimp and clams are lightly fried in a batter that won't clog your arteries. Most diners are too full to enjoy above-average desserts, including homemade ice cream and a wicked bananas Foster.

Seafood is fresh as advertised, but is not well-prepared and the side dishes are tiresome. More >
