Grill 23 has a great reputation and after going there I can see why. My husband and I went for a special night and he thought it was the best steakhouse ever. The steak came out exacty as ordered and the service was very good. They are very pricey though and you need to dress appropriately in jacket for men and suit or dress type clothing for women.

I was pleasantly surprised by the great vegetarian option at Grill 23 & Bar. They have a master chef who is simply amazing and will throw together a plate that includes anything you choose. For example, I told my waiter that I was particularly interested in the asparagus and avocado sides listed as within the descriptions of other dishes on the menu. The chef included my selections and a number of other delectable veggie greats-- even fresh grilled peaches! Also, the salads are terrific. I had the popular baby greens salad. Although it only has greens and goat cheese (no other vegetables), the salad is a great way to start any meal here. It has a unique balsamic house dressing that encourages you to actually finish the salad. The best part about it was the fact that the dressing wasn't too heavy. Sometimes, I worry about restaurants putting dressing on salad for me and order it on the side. But here, don't fear, it's a tasty treat. I couldn't end a review of Grill 23 without mention of their excellent service. My waiter was a pleasure. He was attentive without being overbearing and made some great recommendations to the guests in my party.

Grill 23 is heralded as having one of the best steak menus in all of Boston and I have to say I agree. The cuts of meat are perfect, but expect to pay through the nose for such an experience. The ambiance here is truly sophisticated and the service is top notch. This should be thought of as a "special occasion" restaurant instead of an after work place to grab a bite downtown. Reservations and appropriate dress are required.
