Clio is located at the corner of Comm Ave and Mass Ave in the Elliot Hotel. The restaurant is a nice space overlooking Mass Ave - spacious, but intimate feeling (probably because it was correctly lit for a romantic dinner.) Amy and I went with two other couples - we'd already had a snack at Figs so we weren't starving when we were seated at 8pm. We ended up with a 3 hour meal that was lovely - I started with the beet salad (awesome) and had a mescaline salad for my main course (see - I wasn't really hungry). Amy had the yellow tail tuna app and the lobster with ginger carrot puree. She loved it and managed to snarf it all down even after the Figs fig pizza extravaganza.
We had a wonderful evening with our friends, who also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The only bummer is that the bathroom is through the hotel, down stairs, and around a corner, so the "short visits" to empty the tank after all the bottled water took a little longer than usual.

Clio came highly recommended by a friend. I have to say, I vigorously agree!!! We started with the soft shell crab appetizer, which was fantastic and not chinzy on portions...I had the lobster for a main dish, which was completely out of the shell and in a sweet butter reduction. I was totally impressed...it was just the right amount of portions and completely delicious. My boyfriend had the swordfish and it was tender and very savory. The ambiance was nice and reserved, and it was an outstanding evening! For dessert, don't miss the warm chocolate pudding. A great wine selection is available.

Clio is known as serving Boston's best American cuisine. The executive chef is both inspired and a genious in his execution. The dishes all come beautifully and artfully presented. Portions are a bit on the small side for an American restuarant, but they are more what restaurant portions should be. You'll be full enough- but it's a little expensive considering the small sizes.
The chef here is world- famous and there is typically a long wait to get a table reservation at a prime time. Julia Child once said this was her favorite restaurant in the city, and it's easy to see why.

Clio is a beautiful restaurant that serves beautiful food. But be prepared if you have a big eater in the group, because although the portions are delicious, they are not very large. The servers are a little aloof, but not too bad. The prices are very expensive, but the food quality is very fresh. The dining area is not huge, so make sure you get reservations. It's definitely a special occasion type of restaurant!
