Sol Azteca is an old-style Mexican-Amercian with a lovely patio. The fried cheese is a good appetizer, if you can bring yourself to skip (or add to!) chips with salsa and guacamole. The food is not earth-shattering, but the veracruz style offerings (with a grren sauce) are pretty good. The sangria is yummy, and when there is a long wait for an outside table (usual on a nice night), you can sip a margarita while you wait. Indoors, there is a nicely decorated cozy space, but it's all about the ambiance outside.

I've been here on a number of occasions, hoping Sol Azteca would eventually redeem itself, but this never happened. My husband comes from a Mexican Family and on one occasion he turned to the (hispanic) waiter, questioning the food. The waiter replied with, "yeah, I know how you feel, but it's just how they (New Englanders) like it." Even the waiter didn't like the food! To top it all off, the food is pricey and there is a minimum, meaning you can't come for just a drink or appetizer, you gotta get the whole shebang. The food wasn't terrible, but it is nothing like the Mexican/Texmex food in Texas and at those prices, not worth it.

Here they serve Mexican food of the best caliber. The salsa that they serve with chips for an appetizer is very good as well as some of the traditional dishes like the chilli rellenos. All the food here is spicy and flavorful. Possibly the best thing on the menu is the mango margarita- made by pureeing a fruit and adding the best tequila. It's just awesome.
The prices here are okay with all dishes staying under about $20. Things can add up with a few margaritas though.
