My girlfriend and I came here for dinner yesterday. I have eaten here before, so I know what I was getting into, but my girlfriend never experienced fondue before. Since we only had an hour we only did the cheese and dessert fondue. The cheese fondue was very good. I’ve been to the Meltingpot before, but you can’t compare these restaurants. Cheese at the Wine cellar is a top notch!!! The sides it came with were bread, carrots, celery and apples. I really liked that it was nice and thick. Then we had a dessert fondue. It is dark chocolate with marshmallows and fruits. It was amazing! You never go wrong when you go to the wine cellar!!! As to the wine list – I am not a big wine drinker, but for a real wine lover – it’s a paradise.
Pros: Romantic

People say that too much of anything is not good for you baby, but I don?t know about that at the Wine Cellar.
It starts off slow and smooth. Quiet decor, Carla Bruni singing soft sultry chanson. The host gently removes your coat and ushers you to your seat. It?s almost too perfect of a moment, especially knowing that it?s only just begun.
Food and love share multiple qualities, foremost being the element of choice. Whether an extensive menu or a crowded nightclub, one has a cornucopia of options upon which to dine. That is why Fondue is so undeniably titillating.
The Cheese
The Classic is always a steady date. Emmentale and Gruyere in smooth brandy, add a little wine and you have a reliably good start to a meal. If you are feeling a little bit crazy, the Brittany might be your dish de nuit. However, if you are a romantic at heart, desiring passion and flare, you should taste the French Gruyere.
At first, you maneuver awkwardly with the miniature fondue forks?dipping hard dry pieces of bread and potatoes tentatively into the molten pit of warm, soft fromage. But with practice makes perfect, and in no time, you gain expertise.
With the last bite, you almost peak with satiation and delight, but soon regain your center as you prepare for the entree.

After seeing other reviews for the Wine Cellar, I was a little weary of going and what I would encounter. However, after my dinner tonight I can definitely say that other people must have had rare encounters there. I will certainly be back again as I had a wonderful time!
This was not my first time having fondue, having dined everywhere from a chain fondue place before [The Melting P0T] to an authentic fondue restaurant in Montreal, among others. The Wine Cellar ranks up there as one of the best!
The have an extensive wine list and non-fondue menu items for those who aren't into fondue either. And for fondue, the prices weren't bad either! The service was wonderful - the waiter was knowledgable, the bus boy was attentive to clearing our utensils and filing our waters, food was served quickly... It wasn't overly crowded when we went which was nice since it is a small restaurant.
I have no complaints and would highly recommend the Wine Cellar!!

The fondue was tasty however, our party of 6 people was harassed all night by the co-owner you see on the ad video. He was in a tattered corduroy over coat and a tee shirt and jeans as he proceeded to explain that he doesn't let anyone order anything but 3 courses, and when we tried to find something on the menu that wouldn't cost us $40 each, he forced us into a set menu that ran us upwards of $375. The waiter was very accommodating, but the owner thought he was better than everyone who walked through the door, and his demeanor ruined my night!
Pros: Food
Cons: Owner, Price, Ambience

Some friend and I went here for a birthday celebration and we ended up getting hassled the entire time. We just wanted to order some dessert and came to find out that there were rules to eating here. No where on the menu did it say that we have to order an entree in order to order dessert. When we tried to order just dessert, which was $30 for three people and there were 8 of us, the manage came over and told us they didn't do that. We ended up paying $60 a head for dinner and the entire time we were treated very poorly. The manager kept coming over and telling us what we could and couldn't do. He wasn't even dressed up properly, he was in a tattered old t-shirt and a old button up shirt. We left a note for the water when we left letting him know that he was great but his boss might want to buy a suit if he was going to be so rude to his customers. The manager, who happened to be the owner, followed us down the street to tell us that he had too much money and didn't need to dress to impress. And that he didn't need us. I recommend that you find a different place for dinner if you want a better evening than we had.

Granted, I didn't check the website carefully, there was only a fixed price menu for Valentine day. $75 per person. The price is acceptable but the choice of selection was very limited. We ordered salmon rolls and tomatoes salad, which turned out to be pretty good but not good enough at $75 per mean (drinks not included). The meat fondue was okay, shabu-shabu is much better, and the quality of meats will be better as well. Chocolate fondue was good, but you have 3 marshmellows, few grapes, 3 or 4 slices of banana for two people. I thought it's the size of the serving was pretty pathetic. Conclusion: Not worth the price and I will not go back. You can do prepare fondue easily at home, I was curious about the meat/seafood fondue but seafood wasn't an option.
Cons: Not worth the price

My husband and I decided to give this place a shot a little over a month ago and had a wonderful experience. The fondues were excellent. We had the dinner for 2 and it was the perfect amount of food. This comes with a cheese fondue as a starter, an oil fondue with a selection of meats, and a chocolate fondue for desert. They have a very extensive wine list and the wait staff was very helpful and attentive. We had reservations for a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The place is very small and cozy, think European. If you are used to large tables and lots of extra room, this is not the restaurant for you. We overheard two women complaining about the table size and asking why they were being served raw meat. Hello.....do you know what fondue is? Yes, you cook your own food. They prepare it, but you cook it to your liking. It really makes dinner an event. We will definitely return to this place.
Pros: Fun and Romantic
Cons: I wish they had given us more fruit with desert!

We went here for Valentine's day and had the worst dining experience of our lives. First the atmosphere was so crowded and uncomfortable it was not romantic at all (its very cramped in such a small space). But I can forgive that for Valentine's day. Then the first bottle of wine we ordered and was not the right temperature for a place that prides themselves on wine and was literally undrinkable (and I'm from Napa Valley so I know at least a little about wine). In their defense, they did replace the wine (it was the only time I have ever sent back a bottle) with something else which also wasn't very good. Then came the food.... It was horrendous to say the least. To start off we got the cheese fondue appetizer (what else would you get here?) and it was the only decent part of the whole experience but they didn't give us nearly enough bread with it for two people. Next came the meat dipping fondue. It was disgusting - the meat tasted horrible and the raw meat was touching our vegetables (which looked like they were canned anyways). The sauces they gave us came from a bottle and were like cheap salad dressings that you get at your crazy aunt's house - one was ketchup-like, another was cheap BBQ, and the rest were creamy Kraft salad dressings. We could not stand the food and left almost all of it on our plates even though we had been starving (expecting a wonderful valentine's day dinner) beforehand. There was nothing wrong with the chocolate fondue desert but we were so disheartened at this point we couldn't enjoy it and just wanted to get out. Afterwards we came home and made something edible. I have never written a review online before but felt like I needed to just because of this experience - do not come here, you will be thoroughly disappointed if you know anything about good food, wine, or fondue.
Pros: Chocolate Fondue (but its very hard to mess this up)
Cons: Everything else - atmosphere, price, food, even their famous wine

I went with for Restaurant Week because of all the positive reviews and was very disappointed. I got fondue for all 3 of my courses and none were acceptible. The cheese was too hot for the appetizer, the meats were bland along with their sauces and the chocolate was lukewarm. I suggest you try Japanese shabu-shabu or Chinese hotpot if you want plenty of meats, various broths and delicious sauces for a very good deal. For cheese or chocolate, do it at home so you can dip whatever you want for an even better deal! I have heard that restaurant week menu's were risky since the kitchen is so busy but fondue is not the same as a steak with risotto. To top it off, the wine we wanted was unavailable and the suggestion was awful, but the manager did take it back.
