I made an appt at Shag after reading the good reviews. I made the trip from Maine, about a 2 hr drive, with my dog, a Jack Russell named Rodeo, on a Sat midday. I was lucky enough to get the appt with Melanie, who I requested. She was polite and put me at ease. The salon is open an airy and has a good atomosphere and a great view. They were very good to my dog, and brought him water. I discussed what I did not like about my current hair situation and she agreed and got to work. My hair came out so nice, the cut was very compatible with my type of hair. I brought my own products with me, as I had an expensive anti-frizz treatment and was using the products that I was given at the time. I was dying to have her colour my hair, but I need to wait a bit. I look forward to having colour done in the Fall at Shag.

Stone Photo is a traditional photo lab that makes some great quality photos. If you are looking for a look more professional than a local drug store, Stone Photo will print your photos on great quality paper and they will look excellent.
The prices are a little higher than a drug store, but it's worth it, especially for photos that you will be displaying or giving as a gift. In addition, they have a great service where you can go to their web site, upload photos, and they will email you when they are ready.
PROS: great quality
CONS: a little more expensive than others

With all that has been going on in the news with CVS messing up prescriptions, it is nice to know that there are still old-fashion pharmacies you can trust. Brooks pharmacy on Saratoga Street has not given me any problem with any prescription for the past five years. Also, they have great prices, and a much larger variety than the average drug-store. The service is always with a smile.

We used Beacon Hill Photography for our 8/03 wedding. Jim Hoopes does beautiful work. We had an extremely difficult time deciding between the 600+ photos he provided to include in our final album.
He also does professional photography (head shots) and although I have not used him for that, the photos I have seen are among the best professional head shots out there.
Excellent quality does not come cheap. Expect to pay for the quality you will receive, but you will not be disappointed!

Before we went digital, we took all our film here for developing. Now, we use their services when we need to make reprints or enlargements and more recently, for a photo restoration project. They did a great job on some antique family photos that were very damaged. Some had holes burned in them, some had writing on them, and we got back prints that could be framed and displayed. I was impressed with the speed of their service as well.

Do you moonlight as a rock star, or just act like you do? Then the Shag salon in the seaport district just might be for you. Here you can get an excellent and innovative cut that is neither boring or too far-fetched. The owner swears that he can shape his signature "shag" to work with anyone and everyone that comes to him and so far this has proved to be true.
If you need a pick me up or just are dying to try something new with your hair, this salon is for you. Sleek industrial atmosphere and friendly staff add to the experience.

I was a loyal customer of the store and always got a good service but before moving from Boston to Houston I bought a Nikon backpack in this store, the seller said that it was going to arrive in two weeks, so I waited for almost two months! Later on, I call them again to see what was going on, the guy tells me that the backpack was discontinued (he could have called me, but I guess he was too busy doing nothing), so I ask them for a refund and the guy tells me that my purchase was made with a card (BS I payed cash!) and that I have to go to Boston with my card to get my money back!!
This is very disappointing because they have known me as a customer for a long time.
They lost my respect and my loyalty. I am still waiting for my refund!.

Motophoto is great if you need your film developed in a short period of time, since they are conveniently located in the financial district. However, I don't see many customers in the store, and I think it is only a matter of time before they reinvent themselves or fizzle out. They do have a selection of frames and photo albums, but they are expensive and it seems that you could purchase these exact types of items at less expensive places, such as Target or off of the internet. They do develop film in a short amount of time, but it is very expensive and I can't imagine they are doing much of that now that people are moving more and more into digital cameras. Overall, there is not much that is impressive about this store and no real reason to go to it unless you want to spend a lot of money on film developing or photo accessories!
