The great thing is that the MFA is free on Wednesday evenings, and also you can order reduced price passes ahead of time from your local library because otherwise the admission price is prohibitively expensive (particularly if you'd like to go several times a year). It used to be that the membership fee was relatively reasonable, but that's expensive now, too. The other bit problem with the MFA is that parking is such a nightmare around there, and being on the E line makes public transportation a pain, too. All of that said, it's such a great museum. You can spend all day going from one gallery to another, and the collection is quite comprehensive. They don't have as many docent led programs as other great museums do (the Met, museums in London), which is unfortunate. Special exhibits are also really high priced. The museum store is very good.

The Museum of Fine Arts is a beautiful museum - housed in one of the typical old,. gorgeous buildings that Boston is known for. This museum is a perfect fit for a city known for its tradition and culture. In addition to the many regular exhibits from around the world that have been in the museum forever, there is a steady stream of special exhibits that come to the museum for only a few months at a time. Recently, these exhibits have ranged from Ralph Lauren's Car Collection, to a collection of Monet paintings, to Ansel Adams' photographs. I have visited the museum many times over the years and would highly recommend a visit. Enjoy!

first off, try to take the T or walk to the MFA. Its really convinient although the Green line is sometimes a little slower than the others. The musuem itself is beautiful and full of more stuff than you could see in one visit! Right now, the Ansel Adams exhibit is great although it costs extra in addition to your admissions ticket. Be sure to stop in the book shop and browse as there's some great pottery. Those with Harvard IDs get in for free!

The Museum of Fine Arts is a great place to go to relax, walk around, and experience art in its purest form. They have exhibitions containing ancient Egyptian art, all the way up to the modern period (my personal favorites). If you are a Boston-area student, you can also get discounted or even free admission with your student ID card...definitely a great deal!

The Museum of Fine Arts is a terrific art museum for any art lover. With a vast collection from what seems to be every great decade, geographic area, style and time period, the Museum of Fine Arts offers it all. Though the size of the museum can seem intimidating, it's layout and design are well thought out transporting visitors back in time. The museum offers guided tours that for first time museum goers are a great find. The tours eliminate the vastness of the collection and help visitors navigate and understand the collection. Of particular enjoyment are the museum's collection of European art and American art. Make a day of it by enjoying lunch at the museums cafe and purchasing that special book or poster at the museum's store.

The MoFA is a substantial asset to the community. (The art inside is insured for quite a lot.) It's had some rocky leadership, and that has actually visibly affected the quality of the art and the exhibits. Nevertheless, it's full of magnificent works. This museum made me say "wow" at least once. It's an easy walk from the T, cheap (free for a poor student like me), and definitely worth at least half a day if you can be convinced to look at something beautiful for a little while. Hey, you're in Boston - go!

This wonderful instituation provides a magnificent insight into the art world. Located close to the Northeastern Campus, it is easy to reach via the Green Line E Train. Parking is also avalible in a close proximinity to the establishment. The museum café is an excelent yet expensive choice for fine dining, but the museum itself is what every Bostonion should see.

You can get lost in here…literally and figuratively. I recently went in to see a specific exhibit and emerged many hours later after browsing through several time periods and countries seeing just how art evolved throughout the years. The museum gets some amazing exhibits. Their cafes offer lovely snacks if you get hungry after traipsing around. The museum store has some absolutely gorgeous things ranging from knick-knacks to jewelry to books and toys. It is a great place to shop for special gifts.
