This place was packed with people which was encouraging after readng the reviews here. We decided to sit at the bar and eat dinner. I loved that the full dinner menu is avalable to people at the bar. The menu was pretty limited but the food was great. We got the gulf shrimp appetizer and the steak tartar and Pate dish to start and we were not at all disappointed. The gulf shrimp came smothered in a spiced butter sauce that was so succulent! The Pate they served was appealing to the eye and the taste did not disappoint. The tartar was perfect with the caper garnishment. They served toasted bread slices to accompany both apps and it was the perfect touch. My husband had the short rib sandwich and LOVED it. I had the blackened rib eye med rare with a pepercorn au juis sauce and I have to say it's the best rib-eye I have ever had. I had a great traditional Martini and The hubby drank IPA and the service was prompt, polite and engaging. We had a great time listening to the live Jazz music and the band was good. We didn't get to stay for the reggae that starts at 10 due to other plans but we look forward to hearing them next time! It is recommended you try this place because I cannot wait to go here again! This place is great.....i have read alot of crappy reviews on here but these people to me seem a bit high maintenance and nit pickers....been here a few times and the place is totally cool....very east village....something different for south end....maybe these peeps just can't handle something cool?? then go to hamersleys already....took my mom there for brunch and she fell in love....food fantastic....great live jazz and really sweet waitress....i say GO!! great place.....

We went on a Friday night and the place was "buzzing"... (get it?) Took us a few minutes to be seated even though there were many tables available. Once seated, we had a dozen oysters, which were okay. We ordered the salmon and the snapper. The salmon was pretty good but the snapper was horrible. I have never experienced a fish entree with so many bones, it was pretty much inedible and tasted horrible. The side dish was some kind of bean curd served in tin foil... very "classy" presentation. When asked how we liked the meal, we commented that the fish had many bones and the waiter snapped back saying "What do you expect, it's a whole fish", with an attitude. This ruined the whole experience for us, and we do not recommend this place. Pros: Location and cocktails Cons: Service and food

We went there with our kids. The person at the door was friendly, but our steward was extremely RUDE and busy doing his thing at the POS machine for the longest time before he could get our attention every single time we needed him. Either they are understaffed or some of the people that they hire are plain rude. Once we ordered our drinks and we wanted to have a second round, we had to wait for the longest time for him to see us and even then he didn't come. When we called him again, he said, "I heard you," loudly and didn't come. Finally we got someone else to get our Beer, which arrived after 15 minutes. The Menu was limited and had very few vegetarian options. He was very insensitive to the kids and their needs. I wouldn't go there especially if I had to deal with such rude staff. The female waistaff was good. Pros: Nice to sit out in the summer Cons: Rude staff, 15 minutes to bring Beer! Limited Menu

I went to Beehive for the first time last week with a party of 10 for a friends birthday. From the moment I walked it, I was impressed with the service and atmosphere. The black and white movie projected on the wall in the upstairs bar which was the first hint of bohemian charm. We were seated right away and our server was extremely friendly and accommodating. The chandeliers and live music were another great surprise. The menu was rather small but I chose the halibut, which was actually phenomenal. Others who ordered the salmon were a bit less enthusiastic about it, although they said it wasn't bad. The oysters, although a bit pricey, were also a smash, as was the enormous cheeseburger and "frites". Overall, the meal was great. The service and atmosphere added a lot to the experience. I would love to come back and try their brunch! Pros: Great atmosphere and service Cons: South End Parking, pricey

He just said "whoops" and did not even apologize. Employees should have enough good sense to buy someone a drink if they are responsible for having knocked it over. Bad policy! Rude representative!

Best advice? Skip the Beehive unless you want to see the cool and eclectic bands they book. They are worth seeing. Otherwise, you are in for a bad time. I live around the corner and am patient. So we went back a few times because it is convenient and has a great atmosphere and we wanted to give it another chance as we really wanted it to be our local hang out. It isn't going to happen. Each time we went, it was bad service. The times we only went to the bar, it was worse. Like when they wanted to charge us $3 per piece of cake to cut my birthday cake. This is after we called to make sure it was cool to bring 30 people to the bar and spend money. They welcomed us in and then were just plain rude. Multiple friends over the next few days called with stories of rude bartenders and forgotten orders. The fake line at the door is ridiculous. Especially when there is no one in the place. But when they are full, unless you know the door guy, you stand outside and freeze for a long time. Not really fair. Even tho we want to go here, we won't any longer. Just not worth the hassle. It is really too bad. Pros: great live music Cons: bad service, limited menu, thoroughly incompentent bar staff

Imagine the biggest omelet you've ever seen..drenched in butter..filled with cheese you didn't order...next to greasy french fries that taste like friolator. I couldn't even smell it..nevermind EAT it. Who puts gorgonzola in an omelet?...bleh gross Here's what it's like to go at night: Order an extremely overpriced drink...after standing outside in a line that's only long because they are trying to look busy..while the inside is empty. Stand next to pretentious people who pretend they are cultured by saying they "come here for the jazz music". The music, I will say, is very good. But listening to everyone pretend they know the music....just ruins the whole thing. Oh..and the bartenders? Good luck...they don't pay attention to you unless you scream...I can't tell you how many times I've ordered a drink from one...and they never make it or bring it to me. Don't bother with this place. There are so many amazin grestaurants in the South End. Choose more wisely. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I have truly never experienced such horrific service in an establishment, in my life! Nor have I ever felt the need to publicly let others know. I have been to Beehive numerous times for drinks, and have never had an issue, until I experienced the wrath of the Irish bartender upstairs. That experience alone was unprofessional, out-of-line, and offensive beyond belief. I was quietly having a drink with a girlfriend, when I exited my seat for two minutes to take a phone call. I come back to my seat, only to have someone tell me his friend is sitting there. I politely say my drink is sitting there, my friend is next to it, etc... Conversation over- no big deal. I quietly make a silly joke about it to my friend. God forbid. All of a sudden, the Irish bartender starts LOUDLY exclaiming, I'm "making a scene", asking me "what my problem is?", etc, etc... Mind you, the entire bar is now privy to this ridiculous yelling behavior, and I'm shell-shocked as my friend and I have zero idea what she's talking about! I kindly ask her to lower her voice, as I don't care to be humiliated for nothing in front of an entire bar. She not only does not stop, she goes on and on and on... as she gets louder and louder. This tantrum went on for numerous minutes. And I'm still confused as to what was going on! At this point, my friend and I look at each other like "Whoa- what is wrong with her?" Let's get the heck out of here! We pay our tab, and literally ran out of there! I must say, I have never, ever experienced anything like that in my life. If you've had a bad day, need anger management, or whatever it may be, get OUT of the service industry! I did absolutely nothing to warrant such behavior, when I was just trying to grab drinks with an old friend. I will NEVER, EVER step foot in there again, as I would never expose myself (or anyone I know!) to such atrocious, juvenile behavior. Pros: N/A Cons: Atrocious food, horrific service.
