My wife & I visited boston this week and had a taste for some Thai. After reading a few reviews on various sites, we decided to try the Brown Sugar Cafe. We were staying near Copley Square and decided to ride the T (subway) to the restaurant which is located near a T stop. The T ride cost us a little under $7 total for a round trip ride and the stop was literally less than 50 feet from the Brown Sugar Cafe's front door.
Upon entering we were quickly seated and given an EXPANSIVE menu with great descriptions of TONS of different, exciting dishes. There is something for everyone on this menu (assuming you like Thai food!). I settled on a simple soup appetizer and my wife got some sort of mimosa type pastry appetizers. Both arrived piping hot and were extremely flavorful.
For the main course my wife ordered a wonderful chicken dish which was served in a half pineapple and I ordered a fantastic spicy tender beef dish. Again, everything was piping hot (temperature) and tasty. The service was excellent all night and all food we ate was wonderfully fresh and hot.
The music was a little goofy for a Thai place. That night they were playing some sort of Celine Dion-esque stuff which didn't enhance the environment much, but this was easily overlooked in the face of the good food. Also, I've seen other reviews saying Brown Sugar is a good romantic date night. I think it's a better place to take friends. I only say this because it's not a very quiet place. The ceilings are high and there was a lot of talk bouncing through the room, giving it the feel of a very lively restaurant as opposed to an "intimate" restaurant.
Finally, the prices were very reasonable (our main courses were each around $14) and the portions were perfect.
Highly recommend.
Enjoy,
TZ

Pros: huge exciting menu, easily accessible from the T, fresh!
Cons: music was a little cheesy

This sushi place is the best I've tried so far. There's so much variety to choose from the menu. They've got great service. The line up can be long at times but it's quick. The staff is really friendly and accomodating. They always greet you with a pleasant smile. It's one of the best places in Boston. They even offer takeout and delivery. Sakurabana will always be a great choice.
Pros: menu, takeout,service
Cons: none

If you enjoy incredibly fresh pasta, bread with an olive tapanade to die for, and friendly service, you're going to be moving Rabia's to the top of your North End Restaurants List.
Get anything with the Moroccan olives in it. They finish in the mouth like chocolate - such a unique, delicious flavor. There are plenty of vegetarian options here too and the chefs will make you most anything you want, any way you want it. For my anniversary dinner I had the spinach ravioli with sun-dried tomatoes, the olives mentioned above, in an unbelievably yummy cream sauce - beyond Alfredo - beyond flavorful. I also asked them to add artichoke hearts, which they did with no problem, and they didn't skimp. This is one of the few North End restaurants that serves dessert and coffee and you don't want to miss either (if you still have room!)
I absolutely love this place. It's tiny like most other North End eateries but I have never had to wait. If you want to go on a Friday or Saturday, go around 6PM - don't wait until 9. That's just good advice anytime.
For friendly, accommodating service and fresh, high quality cuisine (very vegetarian-friendly!), Rabia's is highly recommended!
Pros: Incredibly flavorful food, vegetarian-friendly
Cons: North End restaurants are generally small, go off-peak to avoid crowds

La Summa was awesome! from the Arancani appetizer -- light, yet rich, to the pappardelle e melanzane -- fresh mouth-watering pasta in a beautiful sauce with eggplant, to the well--rounded wine list, everything was excellent.... as for the service -- wait staff was friendly, informative, and there whenever we needed them. i grew up in NY and lived in San Francisco, and this small, cozy place ranks right up there!!!
Pros: food excellent..
Cons: none

This little hole in the wall below Newbury St. is one of my favorite places for sushi. The service isn't great, but considering the value of the food and the location, I can't complain. I've probably tried everything on the menu and I've loved most of it. The bathroom is clean (and smells nice), which is suprising for small places like these. Great place to stop by after a day of shopping or to bring friends for a casual meal, craving sushi or don't have a lot of cash.
Pros: Price, food, location
Cons: Service is alright...

We had a Sweet 16th Birrthday Dinner for my daughter who loves this restaurant. She had a choice of having a big party at a hall with a DJ and everything, but she insisted she wanted it at her favorite restaurant.
There were 22 family members who came and I cannot say enough about the service we received, it was fantastic. The service was great and the waitress (Stephanie) did an exceptional job along with the rest of the waiters and bartender (Lauren). They made my daughter's 16th birthday a special night she will never forget as well as me and my family. The food was delicious and everyone had nothing but praise for each meal. I would totally recommend
this for anyone who has teenager's and loves mexican food. Thank You to everyone of you at
Salsa's and Dave the owner for making this a memorable occasion for me, my daughter and my family.

Pros: margarita's

We popped in this past Friday around 8:30 w/ no reservations, greeted cordially by the hostess who told us "there was 30 min. wait, but we could eat at the bar", and as she spoke a couple seats opened up so decided to go that route, glad we did. The bartenders, Tanya and Stephanie were great!! Gave us some excellent dinner suggestions, my wife went with the veal carrozzella and I opted for the guazzetto (mix of fresh seafood), couldn't have been happier!! Our friends stopped by and grabbed a pizza (a grilled shrimp scampi pizza) while we split a chocolate souffle, they loved the pizza.....we followed that with several "mean" martini's and stoli doli rounds and we ended up staying to 1!!! Staff was very friendly, casual atmosphere, bar got a little more energy as the night went on ( don't know if that was the drinks or the crowd, lol!) People were ordering meals as we were leaving at 1a.m. , believe the bar closes at 2 we are all looking forward to heading back soon...
