Haymarket offers an amazing range of produce at a bargain price. The deals here are great, but don't be surprised if you have to buy in larger quantities than normal. Bring a large tote bag and a friend to remedy this problem and enjoy the deals you'll find. Most vendors insist on bagging your food themselves, and you should expect to have the occasional dud when you start to rummage through a bag or flat at home. Still, the hits are far greater than the misses, and the prices make it still worth the trip.

Haymarket is overwhelming and worth the craziness. Bring a big bag for your groceries so you can better navigate the crowds (and the T ride home). Walk through the entire market before buying anything; often prices will be higher close to the front. Come early if you're buying fish. Also, prices are higher earlier in the day, but if you come after 3 you can get incredible deals on entire flats of things - sellers will practically force them on you as they can't sell them the next day. Go through everything once you're home and pick out anything rotten, so you don't spoil all of it. Also be aware that indecision is frowned upon, and if you try to buy one of anything - say, a single peach - you will be laughed right out of there. Just buy the three for a dollar and say thanks. You're getting a deal. And if a seller is rude to you, just move on - they have competition.

Many Saturday mornings I spent here buying more fruits and vegetables than I could reasonably carry home on the T. You just have to watch the quality – sometimes people will try to pass off noticeably old produce as fresh. It’s best to look around before buying as many vendors will have the same items at different prices.

You have to bargain to get into better deal. If you are good in bargaining, I bet you will ended it up, one big box of strawberry for only $1.00. Good luck !

It really helps to come early in the day because the produce at the end of the day, while deeply discounted, is not of great quality. The vendors are a bit forthright frequently. Remember not to touch the food unless instructed and don't be slow. Wait until its your turn to request what you want and request it in terms of money, so say "I'll take a dollar of the tomatos, etc." Good luck and have fun!

Haymarket is a great place to go if you are on a budget and need to stock up on fruits and vegetables. The only drawback is that most of the vendors sell the produce in large quantities, usually by the pound. They frown on you buying less than the quantity that they are selling the items in. So you risk ending up with a lot of fruit and vegetables spoiling before you can eat it. Haymarket tends to get very crowded. If you do not like crowds, you will be very uncomfortable.

I love open markets. Markets are a source of energy, excitement, and great deals! Haymarket is an exciting place to buy fruits and vegetables. Haymarket is also a tourist attraction. No where else in Boston will you find customers frantically searching for better deals or vendors constantly yelling at their customers. It is truly an experience! However, beware of the quality of the produce you are purchasing. Many of the vendors will not let you touch their produce and will pick out the produce for you. On the bright side, even if you come home with a box full of moldy strawberries, you probably only paid $0.50 or $1.00 for it. The trip to Haymarket is still well worth it.

Located outside, near Fanueil Hall and the North End, this farmer's market gives you the bang for your buck. All kinds of fruit and vegetables are sold here on Fridays and Saturdays, and for quality bargain prices. Last weekend I walked away with an enormous box of strawberries for $2, and nine bags of grapes for the same price. The only problem was getting them home on the T afterward...
