While in Boston, our concierge recommended Stephanie’s Restaurant for dinner. We walked from the hotel on a nice, fall evening and had an absolutely wonderful experience along with a very tasty dinner.
When you approach Stephanie’s, you walk through their expansive outdoor seating area on the beautiful and exclusive Newbury Street. Upon entering, you’re greeted by a very friendly yet professional staff member and visually treated by a roaring fireplace and soft, ambient lighting spilling onto luxurious dark wood surfaces. The staff member didn’t ask for our name when inviting us to take a seat in front of the fireplace to wait for a table, yet he got everyone seated in the order in which they had arrived and the wait time was so minimal it’s not worth mentioning. Stephanie’s is not the type of place where they’re yelling names out and creating chaos. Instead, the staff there is each a positive contributor to the adult ambiance. There are no “Happy, happy birthday!” songs being screeched out several times an hour! Thank GOD.
Our meal was absolutely flawless and our waiter’s exuberance was nothing short of delightful. I had THE best spinach salad I have ever had in my entire life! My fiancé had the Italian Sausage Orchiette which he said was fabulous. I was torn between the salad and the salmon, so our waiter suggested I have some salmon on top of the salad! Excellent!! The breads brought to the table to tide us over before the meal were also very different and delectable. My mouth is watering just remembering that meal!
Check out Stephanie’s web site http://www.stephaniesonnewbury.com/ where they not only have their menus, directions, reviews, etc, but also a virtual tour. Our concierge categorized the restaurant as “great American food” and Stephanie’s web site calls it “sophisticated comfort food.” I think they’re both right, but I simply call it “perfect”. Oh, how I wish we had a Stephanie’s in the Seattle area!

You can't beat the style at this tiny bar and restaurant, with big black and white family photos and red leather booths. Fortunately it lives up to its look, with food that's a cut above the usual bar fare for only a little bit more money. Favorites include pretty much anything involving cheese, including the grilled ham and cheese which comes on rye with fries, and the famous, deadly mac and cheese, which has with a side salad to mitigate the guilt. The entrees are mostly under $10 and the drinks are terrific. Insanely crowded at lunch and right after work, so try early in the week, or quarter to noon, or get a friend to stake out a table for you just as you're getting out of work. No reservations.

The new menu at Stephanie's is simply AMAZING! I would recommend the Seared Swordfish to anyone that is looking for a satisfying meal where you are full, but not over full. The portions are perfect and the whipped parsnip's sweet taste compliment the fish very well. I even had room to have the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert! The cheesecake was perfectly whipped with just the right amount of hot caramel on the plate. Kudos to the chef on a superb dish!
Pros: Everything about it!
Cons: Nothing

Lucca is on the main tourist drag in the North End- Hanover Street- so is often bustling with business. If you do not want to wait, try to plan ahead and make a reservation for a table. In the summer months when the tall-windows are open and the breeze is blowing through the restaurant it is definitely the place to be.
The food here is always excellent with the concentration being on classic Italian meat and pasta dishes. Service here is also very good, but the menu tends to be on the pricey side - which is typical of this neighborhood. Expect to spend approximately $100 for a dinner for two once you throw in the wine.

I am going to guess the majority of these people complaining are 20 somethings with disgusting manners and no patience. The ffod was SUPERB, the service was wonderful, they know how to please a woman. My suggestion is that the GenXer's get a clue and go to McDonalds' if they need to eat quick. After 6 pm you should not take young children to this type of restraunt, get a sitter and let the rest of us that have been there done that enjoy our meals
Pros: Great service
Cons: none

i'd read up on this place before coming, mostly good reviews but a couple not-so-great. i'm glad we decided to try it anyway - had a great time. rented a private studio - glad we did it in advance b/c we were there on a sat. and it was packed. probably couldn't have gotten a studio otherwise. well worth it - were able to do that and hang out in stage for a bit. good selection of beer, so that made us happy. ended up staying until close to closing time - would definitely return. fun way to spend a night!
Pros: great karaoke, crowd
Cons: gets really crowded, need reservation

Ivy is a great Italian place that serves large quantities of food at a very reasonable price. The food and the service were phenomenal!! They have a great wine list for around $25/bottle. I was unsure about a couple of things on the menu and the wait staff was more than helpful in explaining everything. Great atmoshphere anytime of the day. Highly recommend!
Pros: Food, Service, Price
