The Federalist, located in the heart of downtown on Beacon Hill, is one of the most notable places to dine in Boston. They serve excellent cuts of meat and a la carte comfort foods that cannot be topped anywhere else is Boston. The service here is excellent as well.
Though it is a bit pricey, the Federalist is an excellent place to go on a special occasion. Expect to pay nearly $50 an entrée once you add in a la carte sides.

More
Federal Wine and Spirits is hands down my favorite wine store in Boston. The staff are friendly and boy, do they know their wine, beer and spirits. They are always willing to help with recommendations, and really know their stuff. They have a fairly large selection of wine, much of it in the cellar downstairs. They often get really special wines and beers, some of which are far outside my price range.
They have tastings every week. Usually the tastings are of wine, but they occasionally have beer and spirits tastings too. Every week they also put out a newsletter, which is filled with great info about their weekly specials, as well as general wine information. The store is small, but well stocked and you can find some really obscure beers here!

The Hampshire House is a beautiful historic mansion overlooking the Boston Common and Public Gardens. The space is currently used as function space. There are many unique options within the space, depending on your needs. I have used the space for company seminars (an old library with a fireplace and piano in the corner work perfectly for this type of event). I also used the space for a bridal tea prior to my wedding. Every function I have ever hosted at the Hampshire House has exceeded my expectations! The staff is wonderful and are very responsive. They make a point to let clients know they are appreciated all year long! Also, this function space is priced much more reasonably than competing function space (hotels, etc.) downtown.
I highly recommend

The Bristol Lounge is the by far the best hotel lounge-bar in Boston. It is situated inside the Four Seasons Hotel and caters to a well-heeled and well-mannered crowd. This swanky lounge plays host to one of the best Sunday breakfast experiences that Boston has to offer. Nights in this setting are classy and elegant with service and company that cannot be beat. If you want to impress a date after dinner, bring them here for a nightcap.

Although I am from New England, I love Starbucks coffee. I know I should love Dunkin Donuts because the company was built here in Massachusetts, but I have to say Starbucks does it better. I never get the right amount of sugar and cream in my Dunkin Donuts coffee when the servers mix it up. This is part of the reason why I feel Starbucks is better. The Caramel Frappucino at Starbucks is the best on a hot summer day.

This restaurant is completely out of my way, but I still manage to come here for amazing lunch. I love their chicken parm and fresh tomato and mozzarella sandwiches and their salads. Their iced coffee is also really good. All the food is extremely fresh and (I think) made on location. Definitely worth a trip.

Great location
We stayed here as a mini-treat to escape the daily stress. The hotel is very pretty and the rooms were comfortable. The best part of it for us was that the hotel is located right in the heart of Copley Plaza and most especially it is attached, or better yet part of, the Prudential Center Mall. We loved walking out to the many indoors corridors to shop at each of the little shops. The Sheraton staff was very helpful with telling us about Boston activities that were going on which we weren't aware of even as Boston residents. Great location.
