I joined the Brookline Healthworks when it opened back in 1990 and thought it was terrific back then. A few years later they opened Back Bay, and it's a beautiful cllub They have terrific classes (though Cambridge still has more classes) with great instructors. They have all the latest equipment. This club is very quiet in the middle of the work day, so it's peaceful. They should upgrade some of their audio system, but they do seem to be gradually doing that. It is very expensive, but you really do get what you pay for.

This gym is for woman only and, therefore, it is a comfortable environment. The staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable. An unbelievable amount of treadmills, stationary bikes and other cardiovascular machines all over look Copley Square. Towels are free. There is a cafe to the sauna and whirlpool. There are indoor exercise classes that members can join as well as several organized weekly activities outside the club such as power walking, running, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, rollerblading and outdoor workouts. This gym is stands apart proudly from the rest.

I have been a member of Healthworks for almost a year and it's the best gym I've been to by far. The ambience is extremely relaxing and the classes are everchanging. They change the schedule each season, but only slightly, to allow for new classes, but not completely throw off your routine. Highly recommend.
