My experience at Lala Rokh was exceptional. I went with my husband to celebrate our first anniversary. We were going for the weekend to Boston and it was hard to decide were to go for a special dinner. The idea of Persian food on Beacon Hill sounded very good to me and it was really more that we both expected. To start the atmosphere was very "tranquil" and sober, and at the same time romantic and relaxed. Service was excellent too. They were very efficient, gave us good descriptions about the food and advice in what to order. The food was very different, tasty and aromatic, a whole new experience for the palate. I recommend it a 100% and will be taking friends and going back because I defintely want to try their whole menu. Can't go without trying the "Fezenjen".
Pros: Good location, nice athmosfere, great service, delicious food
Cons: Being a small place I think is best to make reservations to avoid waiting

WOW - This was my first time at Mantra. After buying a dinner for 6 at a fundraiser, I was excited to use it. We arrived on Saturday evening with a group of 6 and were seated promptly although the restaurant was full (we did have a reservation). The walk to our table was amazing - The place is absolutely Stunning. Great decor and restaurant music.
NOW the real WOW - THE FOOD. They offered their restaurant week menu as well as a sharing plate menu. We started off with about 8 sharing plates and one was better than the other. Goat cheese and watermelon Kabob, amazing. I'm Greek and never had a kabob this way. Garlic, Back Pepper shrimp - my favorite! Naan Pizza - better than any Greek pizza. In all, the food was just flavorful and fresh. I have never had food with this much flavor in my life. Also - our server Haswan was great. Very attentative and professional. Also, I knew there had to be a Greek person in this place, Kabobs, Greek Wine, some Greek music? The manager was Greek. It was nice to see some of my culture even at Mantra, truly is a fusion restaurant. I am one to rarely write reviews, but just had to about MANTRA. I will be back!!!
Pros: FOOD- FOOD -SERVICE - FOOD -
Cons: couldn't eat anymore

Avila is THE perfect place to kick off the evening before seeing a show. I was pleasantly surprised by the vibe which was classy yet casual enough to not feel stuffy - high ceilings, beautiful art work and a variety of seating options, including bar, tables and counter seats facing the open kitchen. Our server was very knowledgeable and provided several sound suggestions. The drinks were amazing, especially the bar tender?s latest creation called "Summer Lovin" featuring homemade passion fruit sorbet, with citron vodka, cointreau and fresh basil. The menu offers a wide variety Mediterranean dishes (too many to choose from) that are creative but not overly eccentric. Everything we sampled was simply delicious. Attentive service kept us on pace to make our show with time to spare. They even offer a pre-theater menu which allows you to come back for coffee and dessert after the theater. I strongly suggest the valet parking for $16 which covers the whole night (up until 11)! Avila is a great find!
Pros: menu variety, food, environment, valet, close to theaters

Parish is one of my favorite spots. The location is convenient, the food is great, and they make fantastic drinks in addition to having a good beer selection. I'd go there just for the Honey Bunny. Good atmosphere too.

Went to No. 9 Park for our wedding anniversary. It was amazing. My husband had arranged for a fresh flower arrangement at the table which was presented when we sat down. It was beautiful. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, which was a perfect complement to fantastic food. I definitely recommend the prune-stuffed gnocchi for an appetizer. The restaurant even decorated our dessert dish with a "Happy Anniversary" and provided a complimentary serving of dessert Italian wine. I also have to say, while taking a quick look around the room, all of the other patrons were smiling and looked very happy to be there. It is a great restaurant... very beautiful, very professional. For the other reviews below, I suggest giving it another chance... you may want to "waite" before posting and "pare" your posting against spell check. Or next time, simply speak up if you're not happy. The restaurant seems to be accomodating to dissatisfactions.
Pros: Ambiance, Food, Professionalism, Catering to Special Occasions

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere alone is worth going for. It has a New York vibe to it (which is difficult to find, even in Boston). The bartenders are some of the best and friendliest I've ever encountered. They can make a lot of good drinks, and even have good suggestions if you're willing to try something new. I happened to go on one of the nights where they had live music---and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

So I saw a posting on craigslist for a Free 3 course meal at News Restuarant. I had been to News late night but I never knew they had a free meal every wednesday for Ladies. I was amazed that anyone would give away a free meal and there was a selection of steak, chicken or veg all of which was good (our table ordered one of each there was 3 of us) I think I found a new spot for me and the gurls on wed night!!!
Pros: FREE MEAL!!! Good free meal!! Friendly Servers!!!
Cons: Ends at Ten PM and I get out of work at 9PM

Walking into Stix I knew we were in for something different, with the cool combination of warm wood and changing light patterns. Wanting to get the full experience, we tried a Teriyaki STIX, Kobe Rosemary STIX, and a Salmon STIX. Each one had its own distinctive taste. I wanted to try a few more, but when we arrived we spotted the dessert menu, and felt we needed to save room! We decided to split the lollipop tree, which continued on the whole STIX idea, with four different desserts served on sticks and dipped in a chocolate glaze, the truffle one was my favorite.
Pros: cool atmosphere, fun food and drinks
Cons: none

Last Monday Banq, the fabulous Boston restaurant in the former Penny Savings Bank Building, celebrated being named “Best New Restaurant” at the Wallpaper* Design Award 2009. I had barely enough time in Boston last week for brunch and a stroll around town, but my local fashionista friends insisted that I had to check it out.
This restaurant is gorgeous (and the food is pretty good too). The Penny Savings Bank building is a 1917 Classical Revival design, the type of edifice that Banks used to build before the days of subprime lending and collateralized debt obligations. Nowadays, with bankers having to account for their operating expenses in front of congressional committees, we may see a lot more fancy Bank buildings converted to fine restaurants. Maybe that’s not so bad.
Walk inside the door of Banq, and all semblance of a traditional bank building melts away. Rich layers of curved white birch climb the walls and soar across the ceiling, forming a dense ‘tree’ canopy that makes this vast space feel intimate and inviting. Designed by the Boston firm of Office da, which also won an interior architecture award for its effort, the dining room at Banq is an inspiring space to showcase an innovative cuisine.
Chef Ranveer Brar has created a menu that draws from his classical French training as well as his work and travels in Asia. Put it all together and you get things like Eggs Benedict with wasabi hollandaise or crepes with anise spiced bananas and mango sauce. My Eggs Benedict was superb, and the parmesan home fries were fantastic. My dining companion fancies himself a breakfast potato connoisseur (he flies to Los Angeles for his favorite hash browns), and he loved them!
And now a request. I was in and out of Boston so fast last week that I did not get to dine at Banq for dinner. If you have been to Banq in the evening please click on comments below and let me know how it is. The menu is intriguing and I’m very curious. They have a char grilled duck breast on the menu with Kaffir lime scented celery root au gratin and orange shiso sauce that sounds like the most amazing take on a traditional duck a l’orange. I’d love to hear from someone who has tried it.
