I always reccomend The Paramount to anyone in from out of town. located in Boston's historic Beacon Hill, the cafeteria style locale is always right on target with classic breakfast fair to satisfy both a savory and sweet pallet. The line is generally out he door on the weekends, but it's well worth the wait !

This is my second home! They have the best coffee I have been able to find and I am a picky espresso drinker. Their muffins, cakes and slices are delicious and their banana bread is to die for. Not only that, their sandwiches for lunch are delicious. Everything is always fresh and the bakery itself has such wonderful character. Staff are fantastic - always helpful and know the regulars' orders before they've walked in the door. Great to see a husband and wife team doing so well with such a great business.
Pros: Reliably good food, great coffee, helpful staff, fresh.
Cons: Baked goods go quickly - get in early.

I love this wrap place. They offer an excellent alternative to most fast food joints. I always get one of their standard offerings (Bangkok, Teriyaki, Big green, etc.) in a whole wheat wrap, with brown rice, and organic tofu. It's fantastic and very filling for only $5.25! Counter service is fast and friendly.
Pros: Great food, low prices
Cons: Sometimes lots of students...

Creative wrap combinations. Don't be deterred by the long line; it moves very quickly. You can watch the efficient staff assemble these masterpieces. The small dining area is ok in the summer when you can head to PO Square but it's a bit of a challenge in the winter. I wish they would deliver for corporate orders.
Pros: Great wraps, fast staff, clean place
Cons: small eating area, no delivery

absolutely this place has the finest pastrami in boston. be careful though, if you eat the entire sandwhich for lunch you may need a nap afterwards! but seriously the fries are also great. the best sandwhich is the traveller. be careful what time you go as 12pm the place gets packed.

I love this place ... not only is the food generous and fresh. You bump into people like Tom Brady and Willie Maginnist from the Patriots. This place has an authentic Boston feel. Which stems from the life long Bostonians that frequent the place. The chicken broccoli and ziti is my favorite. Everything is priced right.... A ++++
Pros: food, atmosphere, decor

Bottega is a quaint little eatery with a variety of different pastas and sauces for one to mix and mingle. The prices usually range from $5-10 depending on what is ordered. There are also hot meals that are served daily. You can make you own salad with a variety of deli ingredients to add. They also serve sandwiches. One of the most popular dishes by far is the spaghetti carbonara which is tasty. There are 2 locations on Harvard Street in Brookline. Great value and food right in the heart of Brookline. Nice intimate setting good for first dates on a budget or lunch.
Pros: great value, variety, tasty food
Cons: small seating area, parking

Peter's Deli is the hidden gem of downtown. Hands down, it is the best. Known to the locals as just Pete's, they serve hot & cold breakfast & lunch. They have everything under the sun from bagles & eggs to sandwiches, soups & salads. They have different specials everyday. My fav is Thursday's chicken, brocolli & ziti. It comes with a side of salad for $4.50! The food is fresh & delicious. Service is quick & friendly and you can't beat the value. I'm actually eating my lunch from Pete's right now!
Pros: Food, value, service

Cee Cees is a great pizza place that I stumbled upon one day and then never went anywhere else for pizza when I lived in Dorchester. Their calzones are very yummy and they have great bar-b-que. Delivery is fast and the prices are cheap. Customer service always seems rushed but they do seem to get a lot of business so they probably are justified.
