My wife & I visited boston this week and had a taste for some Thai. After reading a few reviews on various sites, we decided to try the Brown Sugar Cafe. We were staying near Copley Square and decided to ride the T (subway) to the restaurant which is located near a T stop. The T ride cost us a little under $7 total for a round trip ride and the stop was literally less than 50 feet from the Brown Sugar Cafe's front door.
Upon entering we were quickly seated and given an EXPANSIVE menu with great descriptions of TONS of different, exciting dishes. There is something for everyone on this menu (assuming you like Thai food!). I settled on a simple soup appetizer and my wife got some sort of mimosa type pastry appetizers. Both arrived piping hot and were extremely flavorful.
For the main course my wife ordered a wonderful chicken dish which was served in a half pineapple and I ordered a fantastic spicy tender beef dish. Again, everything was piping hot (temperature) and tasty. The service was excellent all night and all food we ate was wonderfully fresh and hot.
The music was a little goofy for a Thai place. That night they were playing some sort of Celine Dion-esque stuff which didn't enhance the environment much, but this was easily overlooked in the face of the good food. Also, I've seen other reviews saying Brown Sugar is a good romantic date night. I think it's a better place to take friends. I only say this because it's not a very quiet place. The ceilings are high and there was a lot of talk bouncing through the room, giving it the feel of a very lively restaurant as opposed to an "intimate" restaurant.
Finally, the prices were very reasonable (our main courses were each around $14) and the portions were perfect.
Highly recommend.
Enjoy,

Pros: huge exciting menu, easily accessible from the T, fresh!
Cons: music was a little cheesy

I love Al Dente. Seriously. I recommend this place to everyone, including the hot-shot execs at my office (a bank). It's one of the gems of the North End, I've been going there since I was a freshman in college (have since graduated). I've tried many other places but I just keep coming back. The service is always great, the food is top-notch and generously portioned (I love the home-made raviolis--the best you will find anywhere, and believe me I have looked! Also try the pumpkin ravs if they have them on special, or the risotto, but anything you get will be fabulous. Love the alfredo!) I also love the atmosphere here--it's a small place, well decorated and with proper lighting. The only bummer is that the menu never changes...good thing it's all great food!!!
Good for: evening out with friends, romantic dinner date
Not good for: large parties (although 18 of my friends went together one time and it was fine, but we didn't all get to sit together because the place is just too small to accommodate that kind of size), small children

I travel all over the country on business, and have visited all kinds of fine restaurants. What made Sorrento?s the best so far was: 1) Their combination of excellent service (without the annoying "hovering" of many restaurants - I want a server, not a new best friend) 2) Really tremendous food - many scrumptious, tasty and delicious entrees and top notch, distinctive flavors across the board and 3) A relaxed/un-formal atmosphere. As soon as walked in, we felt as if the pace had slowed down so that we could enjoy the meal and the surroundings whether we were there for a full business dinner or a casual drink later in the evening. I don't often recommend anything, but if you like fine Italian food (not soggy spaghetti with ketchup sauce), I don't know of a better place in the city at this point. There may be other outstanding places, but I haven't found them in 30 years of eating all over the country. Yes, I do strongly recommend Sorrento?s!

I have eaten -everywwheeere- in this city, and nowhere leaves me more satisfied than Lucias.
More than reasonable prices. Beautiful, authentic and cozy atmosphere. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and management (they even stayed open very late for my 21st bday). Great wine list. And most importantly, the food is AMAAAAZING !!!! There is nothing on the menu you will not like, and the chicken marsala is better than any I've ever had, in Italy, in NY's little Italy, at my Italian best friends grandmothers house, anywhere. I have never had a bad time or a bad meal or a bad glass of wine. I will continue bringing all of my friends here.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

We love their pizza. their cause is really good, large pieces of tomatoes in it. we were recently in NY at a place our friends raved about, it was very similar to this place, but the NY sauce wasn't nearly as good. We usually get cheese pizza, sometimes with garlic. I like simple pizza. Their steak tips and turkey sandwich are also good and their breakfast is cheap. The workers aren't out-going-ly friendly, but they're fun to watch interacting with people, just don't take it personally you wimps. If you worked as hard as they do and for as little as they probably make, you'd probably act the same. I almost always get it to go. Only and minor disadvantage for us is that they have fountain cokes, but bottled pepsi products. i prefer bottled coke, so i usually just go next store and pick some up. Also, the people who take the money also touch the food, cleanliness concerns? But I've never gotten sick. We always buy two pizzas and freeze one, put the uneaten one in the freezer and put it in the oven for 13 minutes on 400? and it tastes fresh. LLLLLLove T Anthonys, especially for pizza.
Pros: pizza, fun atmosphere to watch
Cons: always cops around, pepsi products

Where do celebrity chef's like Lydia Shire and the late Julia Child go when they need exotic ingredients for their dishes? The answer is the Savenor's Market in Beacon Hill. Here you can find the most ecclectic mix of hard-to-find materials that are every cooks dreams. Some ingredients can cost a bundle- black truffle oil per se. The most interesting finds are the strange meats this market has to offer-- including bear, lion, and alligator. If you're in the mood for something different for dinner, definitely stop by and see what new you can find!
