This is a great place to go to watch the game. Just get there early if you are going to the Fenway location during a red sox game. The food is really good (especially the nacho's). There are tons of different beers to choose from. The Blueberry Ale is great!

Merchant's Wine is one of the best wine shops in Boston, if not the best. The staff is the most helpful I've ever seen. They consistently recommend the best wine for the occasion and/or meal. They all know their wines and are willing to work within your price range, whether it be on the high end or on the low end. They also have a pretty decent selection of cheeses and bread from Iggy's. This is by far my favorite wine store!

This is a great neighborhood store. The manager and staff not only have a good understanding of wine, but they also are very relaxed about it, making great pairing recommendations when you have a dinner party. They also deliver - very helpful for parties! The store is not as swanky looking as some of the fancier places in town but I always purchase my wine and booze here for both the value and the service.

Yeah, the name is "Bauer Wines". However, that's not all you'll find. In particular, don't forget to walk to the back of the store and look carefully at their beer selection. You'll find a large variety of imported and hard-to-find local beers with actual reviews posted under them. Don't settle for that case of Budweiser when you can come here instead and try a bottle-conditioned ale. The staff is also knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to any of your drinking needs.

Federal Wine and Spirits is hands down my favorite wine store in Boston. The staff are friendly and boy, do they know their wine, beer and spirits. They are always willing to help with recommendations, and really know their stuff. They have a fairly large selection of wine, much of it in the cellar downstairs. They often get really special wines and beers, some of which are far outside my price range.
They have tastings every week. Usually the tastings are of wine, but they occasionally have beer and spirits tastings too. Every week they also put out a newsletter, which is filled with great info about their weekly specials, as well as general wine information. The store is small, but well stocked and you can find some really obscure beers here!

I really like this place because of the large selection of smaller wineries that that carry. Many of their wines I can only find at Charles Street Liquors and the quality for price is fantastic. It is also nice that they have wine makers doing tastings in the store. Nothing beats actually talking to the person who made the wine you are tasting. Their delivery service is the best.

Best Cellars is perfect for the wine novice who wants something tasty but is dumbfounded by regular liquor stores. The layout is colorful and friendly, with wines divided by Strong, Sweet, Dry and other familiar characteristics. The categories are small and you can get some unusual wines here. The staff knows what it's talking about and many bottles are $10 or less. Come during a tasting and get a mini-education as well as a sip and a nibble.
