This past friday I finally made my appointment for a weeve. I kept putting it off because of the price. And my stylist 23, I doubted he really could do what I needed. Which was to make sure non of my hair showed. i didn't want to put anymore chemicals in. And I wanted it not to look bulky. He totally followed through. He stood 8hours straight making sure it look fabo. You can tell he really cares about his clients happiness and the quaility of his work is top notch.
As expensive as it was it was totally worth it. My stylist did amazing work. Im not sure how long I'll be able to see him. He's definetly going places. Anyway I left looking and feeling like a super star.
Again, I gotta warn you the price is high. But I don't think it's just because it's on newburry street. It's because they seem to hire the best people.
The atmosphere is clean, stylish, and cozy. They do keep you smiling while you're there.
I don't know if I can afford to go there regularly. But they will be the only place I'll consider from now on when it comes to hair. Gauranteed greate results.
Just gotta save for it. :)
Pros: Shampagn was given for the final lap, ambiance, comfy chair
Cons: cost, no snacks after almost 8 hours there, but no big deal Im on a diet anyway.

The stylist completely ruined my hair.
The name Salon red is actually kind of ironic..they are advertising what they work the worst with- RED.I came in with a light brown color in my hair that had a SLIGHT red under tone. I initially wanted her to just throw some highlights in to make my roots less noticable, for the most part, I liked it how it was. She obviously didnt, and instead decided she wanted to touch up my roots by matching the existing color all around, and throw foils in. She told me anything else would not look blended. It seemed sensible so i let her. However, the color that "matched my roots", in her eyes, happened to be a deep red with violet undertones with a dark dark brown base. It was disaster, and to top it off she put highlights in that were so light that they looked grey in contast to the rest of my hair. She also insisted, that this purple color, was my actual original hair color i came in with. To top it off, when leaving, might I add I was so distressed and upset about my hair i was crying, things got worse. Not only did the owner not see me crying during this entire 4 hour nightmare and say nothing, he felt the need to embarrass me as well. I was told that my bill was modest and that he would have charged me more because I mae her try to fix it three times.
Pros: salon is very well layed out and decorated
Cons: service is terrible, results the same

First salon I've tried in Boston since moving here; it was recommended by a friend and I'm very happy with the results. Yojanse gave me just the cut I was looking for and the price was not outrageous (as Newbury is known for expensive everything). I was really pleased and will definitely continue to head there for future salon needs.

Salon Red was one of the best things ever! I went to the salon thinking it would be snooty and uppity but was willing to put up with it if it meant I would get a kick a$$ cut. I was pleasently surprised, however, when i arrived. The atmosphere and the stylists were very friendly and it was a nice eclectic mix. I went for a cut but also ended up getting my hair flatironed. My stylist (Arthur) was very friendly and full of knowledge. We ran our mouths like old friends the whole time I was in his chair. It was $85.00 but I left looking fabulous so I will definitely go back to Arthur. The whole experience....fabulous!!
Pros: convenient, easy to get to by train
Cons: that I can't go every day.

I have been searching for a place to get my ethnic hair done in Boston for years and have never found a place that combines the professionalism, outstanding service and impeccably skilled stylists of Salon Red. Kai is a miracle worker and made me look and feel fabulous. She is extremely conscientious and I would not hesitate to recommend her to any one with "difficult" hair.

I stepped into this salon to get my highlights freshened up and met a wonderful stylist by the name of Diana. She did such amazing things with my hair. The highlights look natural for the first time and didn't look painted on which is what I've been looking for. She cut and blowdried my wirey, curly hair into a silky smooth finish. AMAZING!!! I give Diana and Salon Red 5 stars! For once on Newbury street I found a cool space that does fabulous hair, definitely check it out.
