Mr. Peppers was AWESOME! He came to the house Saturday morning early as we both work. We were on the schedule to remove 4 major trees and trim 5 others by Tuesday. THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE! He was very clean. No mess was left. The stumps we wanted removed (3) were ground and cannot even tell a tree was in the ground. HIs secretary was very helpful calling back 2 to 3 times to answer all of our questions. This company is top notch in customer service, pricing, clean up, removal. I will use them again and again. My neighbor even came over to talk to them as he needed a tree removed. They did it on the spot! Nice!

I love going to Andy's every year. I've gone for the last 4 yrs. and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. They have tons of plants, great selections, helpful staff, plants that I am unable to find anywhere else. The only downside is prices are a little high. But if it's something you really want - you'll pay a little extra. I ALWAYS leave with some new plants.
Pros: Great selections, clean and neat
Cons: Prices are alittle high, not easily accessible.

Myer's, located in Pelham, is a fine little nursery that carries nice plants and landscaping materials. They have an excellent selection of hanging plants. They have very knowledgable staff that are very helpful. They also have a wide variety of ceramic and terra cotta planters. They also have some landscaping rocks; however, unless you need only a few, I would try a rock quarry since their prices are fairly expensive. The prices on their plants are very reasonable and just a few dollars more than the larger chain stores.

This not-so-well-known landscaping store is located behind the Parnell's Furniture store in Hoover. I think many contractors and professional landscapers know about this place, but they also serve the general public as well. After being greeted by the owner's dogs, you can browse their large selection of small or large river rocks or stepping pavers. If you've brought your truck with you, you can load up on pine straw or pine bark. Since they deal mostly with professional landscapers, stuff isn't bundled or packaged like they are at Home Depot/Lowes. You have to have a truck to transport the stuff. If you've got the transportation, you can get a lot of landscaping material for a very inexpensive price.

This outfit offers landscape design, installation and maintenance services. When we wanted our backyard done, they produced a design very quickly. Their design includes some earth movement in our case. They are very knowledgable about appropriate plants for the landscape, climate and microclimat. There is some backlog (that we experienced) for installation services. In our case it was a few months although such things vary by season and may be different now. The service was personalized. The partners/owners were regularly on the job and present at the site and we were pleased with the results.

Collier's Nursery has a wide selection of plants and trees for all of your landscaping needs. The staff is pretty knowledgable and are very attentive to your needs. While they don't advertise or promote it, if your plant dies within a reasonable amount of time (less than a year), they'll let you return it for store credit. Their prices are higher than Home Depot or Lowes, but the selection is much larger.
