Ride is located in a nondescript little strip mall. The interior is superb, open enough for you to practice on a skateboard with softrucks, including a bonafide rail to perfect your grinds. A wide assortment of decks, clothing, wheels, videos and other gear is available. Owner Brian Fleming is young enough to pop a 2 foot Ollie and old enough to be a parent so he'll interact nicely with people of all ages.

We attended all three days of the 2006 Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports complex.
It is the most race fan friendly venue in the country, bar none. Every aspect is well organized and beautifully maintained. We set up an 8'x8' canopy, with lawn chairs and cooler, and from our vantage point could view fully 50% of the course while listening to the race announcer on FM radio. Movement about the facility is facilitated by frequent trams that circle the course. Be sure to plan a visit to the museum, it is breathtaking in its beauty and presentation.

It's not a bar. It's not a club. It's not a conventional concert hall, either. You won't see Dave Matthews or Madonna play here. But you will see great indie bands like Broken Social Scene, Asobi Seksu, Rogue Wave, Boris, Elf Power, and other awesome under-the-mainstream-radar-but-still-not-quite-obscure bands. It's BottleTree, a unique venue where the traditional snore-bore decor is traded for kitsch and glitter.
This place is located on 3th Ave. South in downtown Birmingham, just a block or so away from Hancock Fabrics. It hasn’t been open for very long at all, and in fact, they don’t even have their liquor license yet (hopefully, this will change very soon), so it’s still BYOB. Tickets are cheap (typically $10-$12 each) and you can buy ‘em at the door or online. The people that run this place are great, and you can tell that they’re really into all of the bands that come through the doors. Which is another thing--I am amazed at how this brand new venue has managed to get such impressive acts (many of which have never been to Birmingham before), especially considering that--let’s face it--Birmingham has never been a great city for indie shows.
Parking isn’t an issue, as they have a parking lot next to the building (a rare thing downtown). I suggest showing up a little early to ensure a space. Parking is free! Hopefully it’ll stay that way.
Inside, there is a Central-Perk-esque area clad with comfy sofas and chairs in which to sit in case you wear yourself out dancing like a sugar-crazed maniac. Tons of music-related magazines to read. Fun! It’s great just to sit and take in the atmosphere--whether it be to gaze at the glitter-covered mounted deer (which I usually hate, but, come on, it’s covered in glitter!) or to watch Pee-Wee’s Playhouse playing on the giant screen and/or small TVs hanging from the ceiling. There’s a great deck area on the side to go our and smoke or just to take a break from all the noise. But why would you do a think like that? The sound is great, and the stage is a bit small but they make do. There is a cute little bar (where they will hand you the chilled beer you brought, just until they get their liquor license) with comfy stools to sit in and watch the show, or you can be non-lazy and get up next to the stage.
I adore this place. I’m planning on becoming a regular here, because they have great bands basically every day. In fact, I love this place so much that if I could, I would marry it. I know that’s what Pee-Wee would tell me to do.

We attended a wedding reception at Vulcan Park and were impressed! The indoor reception area was spacious and comfortable, with long tables to seat plenty of people. An adjoining room held even more people!
Included in the reception package guests could take the elevator up to the top of the Vulcan Statue! An awesome, breathtaking view from high above the city!
This is a beautiful park for any gatherings.

Rave Motion Picture Theaters are the best to see a movie in. They are so clean and the employees are all so friendy. The bathrooms are the cleanest I have ever been in and the actual theaters are the best. They have the most comfortable seats around with plenty of room. You will not be disappointed.

More
The Civil Rights Institute is probably the most important place to visit in Birmingham. It is a nonprofit, privately and publicly funded museum to the civil rights movement as it unfolded, principally in Birmingham in the 1950s through 1960s. The exhibits include a short introducting movie, models of segregated facilities, detailed memorabilia of the segregaged South, and then a slow walk through a mixture of documents, photographs, recorded voices, television images, and even the bombed out front end of a bus from the Freedom Riders. Every visit is engrossing and you will learn something more every time you come. On Sundays, incidentally, a number of veterans of the Struggle are at the museum just to talk with visitors.

I first took my daughter to the McWane center the day after she turned one. I was so excited to see that they had a special area just for kids under 4. It has a water table, an over sized garden with gigantic mushrooms and corn stalks with tunnels to climb in and out, a jungle gym play zone with three levels (this is like the ones at McDonalds but more educational), a imagination room with mini grocery store, library, cars and trucks, and tables to work puzzles from 3 pieces to 100 pieces. It also has an area for babies under two with huge styrofoam blocks to climb on, block stackers, and an assortment of educational based toys. On the lower level there is a mini aquarium that my daughter has always been fascinated by. It definitely is a place for kids of all ages.
