Strosnider’s is another DC area hardware store. This and Bruce Variety are the only ones left after Hechinger’s closed. Strosnider’s is pretty much the same as Bruce Variety, though some people would call this blasphemy. A hardware store is a hardware store after all, and Strosnider’s is a pretty good one with good prices.

Mr. Hyman handled our initial call and said they did a fair amount of this sort of trouble shooting, he explained what his techs would do and what the alternatives would be if the problems were uncorrectable. His men showed up on time and went to work promptly. They were careful to explain what they would do and were very clear as to the cost for opening up each electrical box in attempting to find the problems. Within three hours they had found all the problems and corrected them including replacing defective devices, rewiring as needed and tracing wiring through the house. We did not expect this to be cheap since there was no way to figure out the nature of the problems or where and how extensive they were without actually doing the work. I doubt we could have rewired and replaced these circuits for anywhere near what this cost in the end. The two men worked well together, were very polite and open to questions. They insisted on cleaning up the areas they worked in and left the house in better shape than when they arrived.

I recently I bought an older that was going to need some much needed home improvement work done ASAP that I know I was not going to be able to do on my own. The first thing on my list was to remodel the bathroom. So I sought out to find a local of home improvement service here in Bethesda, MD. I found one that covered many areas of MD. called Case Design, the were pretty much good at everything I needed and more like kitchen cabinets, remodeling, restoration, handyman repairs, electrical, plumbing, windows, doors, caulking, trim work, drywall repairs and allot more. They seem to be reasonably priced as well, so I guess I am set and ready to go.

Its like stepping back in time. Little local hardware joint has everything you need and more. Sure their stock has less selections that the major place but they have all the things you really need to get something fixed - AND - they have help that knows what they are doing.

I had extensive chimney work done by Priddy Good. Now, several years later, the cap came off. I called wondering what could be done. They, without hesitation, told me that it was warranted for life and that they would take care of it immediately. They were friendly and accommodating.

Recommended highly by friends, I've now been taking my wife's and my cars to Bethesda Texaco for about a year and find them to be professional, knowledgeable, and very honest. I recommend them highly.! So glad I have an alternative to the local dealers and their high prices and long lists of unneeded repairs.

Albert Paving is the neighborhood pavement group. They are good at what they do, and they have a nice selection of pavement and stones (they have some new Brazilian stone they're pushing). The trouble is getting them to do it. We made an appointment, but they never showed up. This went on for weeks. Eventually, they're here, and do a great job. So try to get them, but don't fret if they don't come. Find another place then.

Glen Echo Hardware has a convenient locaiton, and average prices. Nothing distinguishes it from the others; it is average. It is a hardware store. The staff are reasonably knowledgeable fro the most part, and the selection of "stuff" is generally good, as is cutting, etc. service. Bruce Variey is better, obviously, but this is fine.

Anglo Dutch is a one location toy store. They have all the essentials, and the Lego collection is particularly strong, as are the board games and water guns. A small store that carries some video games, though these are 60 dollars. Little trinkets are cheap, and they carry Halloween costumes and pool supplies. Nice staff
